^ Quran says its "ahmed" (in surah saff), but its mentioned in bible as paraclete, of which scholars suggest ahmad is the arabic translation....

I mean I was told Muhammad is an attribute name of the prophet SAW that no one else had before...
tell us how you found this... I am not doubting just anxious to learn more..

well, the answer (3) for the question about ppl being named Muhammad before our Prophet (saw) was taken from a quiz Q&A that i read and hence i mentioned it earlier that dont ask me names of the ppl cuz i dont know…
but since u ppl ask for references here is one in arabic (i hope some ppl here can read arabic)…
for those who cannot, this site shows different arguments on the issue, including:
- no one had the name before the prophet (saw)
- 16 ppl had this name before
- 8 ppl had the name before
and the references for each r given on the page…
but i do not now recall where i got that earlier answer (3) from, but i am 100% sure that the quiz from where i took the question mentioned the answer as 3…
but now after looking for the topic, it seems that like other issues, there is doubt about this as well…

excelletn discussion....could read part of it in the start then in the deabte of the name of Muhammad the arabic is too testing for me...so I will need help of some one...

I also read this before that some Arabs knew that a Prophet will come and his name will be Muhammad, so some people named their children Muhammad in hope that they will be prophet.

I know a hadith prefered by shias which answers your question ....I dont know but maybe the version you are refering to is related to ashra-e-mubashira?

^ many sahaba had the name Muhammad by I guess all of them were born after the declaration of Prophethood
