There are too many contributors to the development of Pakistan in the early days - Habib Ali Muhammad of Bombay who was specifically invited by Qaid-e-Azam to come to Pakistan. He established Habib Bank here as well as many industreis here.

some people are claiming MQM to be a POLITICAL PARTY !!!!!!

i dont know what type of POLITICS this MQM is playing from 1986 onwards.....

its strange when people equalize the terrorsit organization in the cover of political party....

can anybody tell us any **political attitude **of MQM in apst 20 years ....

rest all political parties are not angels.....but they are not facists and nazis !!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100% anyone referring to themselves as anything but Pakistani should be slapped. no more of this muhajjir, sindhi, pujabi, balochi, pathan bull****.

While the backlash against MQM is justified, one must not be so ignorant as to put all-urdu-speaking (I prefer that term) people in the same boat and not recognise the fact that they have played a big (perhaps the greatest) part in the creation of Pakistan

If you look at all the big names that were at the forefront of Pakistan movement apart from Allama Iqbal (Punjab) and Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar (NWFP) the vast majority of them were urdu-speaking - Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Liaqat Ali Khan, Nawab Waqar ul Mulk etc. even Jinnah (though born in Karachi) was not really a Sindhi

Our stance should be against all such terrorists be it

MQM

Al-Zulfiqar Tanzeem (the militant youth wing of PPP that hijacked many PIA planes back in the 80s) aptly dealt with by Zia,

or JI student workers who wielded such badmaashi in the universities back in the 80s that 4 year courses were being completed in 7 or 8 years all due to strikes, hooliganism, vandalism etc. The engineering university in Lahore (UET) was often referred to as “The University of Error and Terror” because of their very violent and disruptive acts. When my elder brother was studying there in the late 80s, some of these JI student workers even had the audacity to beat the vice-chancellor up in his own office, such was the lack of authority and administration in those days.

So our stance should be against all such people and not just the MQM. I would even like to think that there are many in the MQM itself who don’t approve of some of Altaf’s policies but feel helpless to say or do anything either because they fear him or because they feel indebted to him for other reasons/past favours etc.

So let’s acknowledge the contribution of urdu-speaking people amongst all this and not blame them for MQM triggered badmaashi. Let’s not forget the sacrifices of their (infact I should say our) forefathers. Pakistan belongs to them as much as anyone-else. Let’s also recognise the fact that they as an ethnic group are the most educated people in Pakistan amongst Punjabis, Pathans, Sindhi, Kashmiris and Balochis, a fact also acknowledged by Imran Khan (give him credit for saying that). Hence their domination of Television, Radio and the print media.

Pakistan would be a much better place if we all thought of ourselves as Pakistanis first before anything-else :k:

Lets also not forget the great contributions of those who have excelled at various sports

Cricket - Hanif Mohammad, Mushtaq Mohammad, Javed Miandad, Asif Iqbal, Saeed Anwar etc.
Hockey- Hassan Sardar (who many consider to be the greatest hockey player ever) , Islahuddin (World Cup winning Captain in Argentina 1978) etc.
TV - Moin Akhtar, Anwar Maqsood, Haseena Moin, Fatima Suraiya Bajiya etc.
