Re: Lets Drop the Hanky Panky
You are reposing too much of your trust in the collective electoral wisdom of this nation. it has been discussed on and off that unless votes are cast on performance, no amount of electoral exercises will come to any desirable fruition. Haven’t you heard politicians saying all the time that they should be voted out if they are not delivering. That’s fine. But they yell so only because they have perfected the art of talking their voters into voting them again. A free lunch and free drive on the polling day is enough to entice the majority of rural voters — that is 70% — into throwing their votes. And I am yet to talk about other influences at work in rural areas.
I understand that the best way to make the most out of electoral exercises is to diligently work on voter education. Unless voter manipulation is addressed, you can never have a genuinely sincere leadership to come to the fore.
