Let it be a politician, engineer, doctor or a mufti you know better then all of them. They are all bunch of morons and God only blessed you with wisdom and richness of knowledge; and perhaps that is exactly why you are busy educating the unworthy fellows here on GS, a good cause you achieve by ridiculing others.
If you disagree, fine, why do you need to be personal? Why do you need to call names? Give away your reasoning and that should be it (which in most cases you fail to provide) or perhaps its enough reasoning that the person you talk about is a moron. Only you have the right of free speech and free views rest of the world does not, they are the filth.
ah but he says that one should not get personal while he himself is getting personal about the nameless folks he is up in arms against. see, words liek "grow up" and 'change your mentality' can be taken as getting personal. If you dont agree, try using them on your boss the next time you have a disagreement :)

1) laxative
2) aspirin
3) a good nights sleep
4) a good meal, a hot shower and a karak katora of chai
5) a vacation
PS: I am not advocating that you try all of them simultaneously

this is not a GS thing but a Pakistani/south asian thing! you'll see evidence of it throughout pakistani society. its a known fact, i believe it was said to emanate from a mentality of wanting to beat opposition into total and utter submission!
btw I do agree with Jony. I have seen personal attacks and all in discussions and its very unbecoming. I think it all started more with when khalifa-e-gupshup started declaring ppl kaffirs and what nots. the pissing contests in WA are justone example. I think most of the perps there either got bored or banned, but its good to see things cool down there a little
I don't agree with Jony one bit. He has no idea what he is talking about. He is the same dumbbutt that I had known back when I had access to RF. I think he has lost his mind. He posts nonsense all the time. He needs to get a life.

seriously speaking, I agree with you. I think am among the few here who don't post in everyone's thread or reply to everyone's post. The reason is that some people go personal. They say rude things sometimes (well, I call them rude. maybe for some its just an ordinary talk).
so if I see that someone has posted something (that is not very nice, I stop right there - I stop replying to that person't post or thread.). To my surprise, the one who gets that rude (or whatever you call) comment, still keep posting in the same thread.
The policy "apni izzat apnay haath" sounds better. :)
