he other day I was talking with my mom and this one auntie who was over at our house. We were just talking about clothes and stuff, and later we came to the topic of ‘sharam’ and ‘hiyaa’ in Islam. (I don’t know the exact translation of those two words, but I believe it’s along the lines of ‘modesty’ and such)
Anyways, so Ammi is like talking about how it’s normal for guys to like girls and vice versa, but there are limits in Islam that will keep it from going too far when you’re just not ready for that stuff. yadda yadda yadda…
Then, Ammi goes “From what I have heard, Muslims are allowed only one look at the boy/girl that they see, and then they must divert their eyes.”
And the Auntie goes, “Yes, but beta, let me tell you a little trick. If you look at a boy and you look down veethout blinking and then look up agayn, it still counts as vun look.”
I’ve decided to buy myself some Visine to squirt into my eyes before a cute guy walks into the room so I can look up and down a few times without having to blink. Sounds like a plan. :]
