Judge wants same-sex couple on ECL list Staff Report
LAHORE: Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif has ordered the interior ministry on Friday to add Shamile Raj and Shehzina Tariq to the exit control list (ECL) so that they cannot leave the country. The couple got married last year, but a medical report said Shamile was originally a woman. Arrest warrants have been issued against them, but they have escaped and cannot be found by the police.
The judge directed international airports all over the country to keep a look out for the couple. He issued these directions on the request of Tariq Hussain, Shehzina’s father.
Applicant counsel, Gulzar Butt, alleged that Shamile and Shehzina were seeking help from a non-government organisation (NGO) to leave the country and had made arrangements for their departure. She also alleged that Khalid Bhatti, Shamile’s former employer, who is a car dealer in Faisalabad, had been heading a network to patronise same sex marriages in Faisalabad. She added that Khalid’s daughter and Shamile’s brother were part of the network.
She said that Shamile’s brother, Zahid, had been arrested. Shehzina and Shahmile got married on September 9, 2006 with Rs 10,000 as prompt dower and Rs 100,000 as deferred dower. They filed a case because Shehzina’s family and police were harassing them. On further investigation, Tariq revealed that Shamile was initially a woman named Nazia. The judge then ordered a medical test to be run on Shamile, which proved that he had been operated upon for the removal of his breasts and uterus, but was medically still female. Therefore, the judge ruled against them and issued their arrest warrants and told the SHO to bring them to court on May 16.
In the last hearing, the court ordered the Faisalabad DIG, Aslam Tareen, to appear personally, and to make a team to arrest the women and bring them to court on May 22 .
why does this alter the taste of your bread and wine? You think you people dont have enough personal "issues", you have to start judging innocents for kicks?
*But come on we are pakistanis..its our trade mark we always need something un- productive to keep our lives busy and going…doesnt matter if we intrude some one’s personal life or not…as long as we get some satisfaction out of it we’ll keep sticking our noses in every body’s business… *
hmm...self declared morality experts, running around telling women what to do or not to do...sounds more like Afghanistan than any other place.
the only reason i had "" around the "disease"..was because..i was being sarcastic..i don't think in any way that it's truly that..
and mind you..keep Afghanistan out of this...
i didnt say it was only in pakistan
and "she" medically is not a boy..removing your breasts and uh other parts..does not make her a boy..she still has the body of a female..like the way it functions and all..
I think I am going to keep Afghanistan *in *it, because I can’t think of a better place where general consensus is that everyone is supervising everyone else’s morality.
And yes, I did think that you were serious “disease”. The use of grumpy and angry icons is serious stuff !
Okay in no way whatsoever is Afghanistan related to this. It’ about a lesbian couple in Pakistan. However, if you are gonna keep it *in *let me remind you that there is another country which i think is worse…and that’s Saudi. Next time you go on thinking people are serious..think otherwise.
I didn't even know they were allowed to perform that kind of surgery...isn't it against the law???
It's Pakistan..anything is possible with the right amount of money. We have docs there who have 2 years of medical education..and declare themselves doctors. So yeh..all's fair!
