I’m looking for a recipe for some nice hearty lentil soup.

you came to the right place to ask! :D
the way i make lentil soup for myself is this:
take a skillet add lentils in it
add garlic, ginger, salt, onion, red chilli pepper and other spices that u like then let it boil.
Take another skillet and cook sphegeti or macronni
then combine them both in the third skillet and let it boil for 15 more minutes.
Taaaa Daaaaa Lentil Soup is ready to be served! :D
p.s. i know it sound weird but trust me will taste good :)

Thank you so much, do you have any estimate time of how long i should let the lentils boil? Any particular favorite type of lentil?
I just had Progresso Lentil soup this evening, wasn't all that...had no taste whatsoever.

u can tell by my cookin style that i am a student 
and really dont know the names of lentil…but by colors…umm the one i use is green/brownish one!
The estimate time is until when lentils get soften in ur mouth thats when it is good for a soup.
