Need to buy a laptop for my daughter. We are not married to any particular brand except that we have had a not so good experience with HP.
She has taken a liking to the Lenovo Flex 2 but only because of it’s size and weight.
She really doesn’t need the “flex” part of the design so I was wondering if there might be a better device that, perhaps doesn’t offer the rotation of the display but provides better/faster processing power or some other more valuable feature set in it’s place.
She definitely wants something light weight (for portability in her school bag) so SSD and no larger than 14" display.
I want to stay under $600.00 if possible.
Your recommendations are needed.
If you are ok with refurbs, Dell sells its refurbs+offlease laptops. You might be able to get a professional grade laptops for cheap. Like here. Look for a lattitude E-series.
I tried convincing her to go with the tablet/detachable keyboard combo but she wouldn't do it.
We picked up the Lenovo Flex 2 last night cuz the price was too good to pass up: CDN$549 (plus I got a discount as it was ex-Future Shop inventory hence was treated as an open box so CDN$509 and he threw in a 2 yr extended warranty.)
I've got a techie friend checking it out for the next couple of days to see if we should keep it or not. He's gonna make sure that 8.1 is not gonna cause problems so he's putting it through a battery of tests.
