Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

I know there is a desi totka that uses these ingredients for fresh, glowing skin…

what are hte exact quantities and when/how is it used?

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

You already have fresh, glowing skin. What are you worried about? :emmy:

If you're using a cup of rosewater use 1/2 cup of glycerin and lemon juice.

for what?

and how to use and for how long please....

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

I've used this recipe for years for clear skin. It's especially helpful for dealing with those annoying red marks that stick around for ages after the pimple/acne is gone. This recipe speeds up that process.

I've always used equal parts of each ingredient. Usually for my face, about a teaspoon of each item is enough. I smear it on, leave it for 10 or 15 minutes, and wash it off with cold water.

Red marks are EVIL! They fade excruciatingly slower than the brown ones.

thanks a lot...will try it (:

Just as a precaution, you should whip a small amount of this recipe and do a patch test on your arm. Some people may experience burning and redness due to the acidity of the lemon juice. If you're one of those people, reduce the amount of lemon juice until you no longer experience discomfort.

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

I don't know how much you're supposed to mix, but I do know that it's brilliant for you to use on your feet. My mom has been using it for years, and it really helps with cracked heels, and general softening and cleansing of the skin...

I've found that with the same quantities most girls develop really red/blotchy skin (because of lemon) those with 'sensitive' skin need to be careful. I use it off-and-on and then forget..

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

^You're right. It's just that I've got the type of skin that wouldn't change much even after the most harsh treatment, Alhamdullillah.

Always ALWAYS do a patch test before trying out new products on your face. And if you experience the redness/blotchiness, cut down on the lemon.

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

my skin has gotten to be on the sensitive side…

These days I’m not really using any moisturizer b/c the one I had I gave it to my mom and I just been too lazy to buy a new one :bummer: and the other one I had (Ponds deep hydrating one–blue dhakkan wala), has gone bad or something cz each time I put it on, my skin got hot and irritated.

so just looking for a natural method I guess…

^I agree equal amount may not suit everyone. My face burns really bad if I apply lemon in any form on, so I never used this totka for face. I used it for craked heels and hands, it works relly well.

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

Mistral-is this a daily thing......

and what rosewater....cant seem to find a good one, i have heard not to use the food trs rose water...cos it aint good....

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

^I don't use it as a daily thing. It's something I use to get rid of any remaining scars after the occasional pimple. I don't know about you, but I get red marks that stick around for days (sometimes weeks) after the pimple itself is gone. This remedy speeds up the disappearing act...and since I use it all over my face in addition to the location of the scar, it kind of evens out my whole complexion.

As for rose water, you can find it in pharmacies, supermarkets (both non-desi and desi), and natural health food stores. The latter is the best, I think. While pricey, they tend to use premium ingredients without any unnecessary additives.

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater

Thanks Mistral, so how often do you use it....i think il start with twice a week? or more? i already use lemon and sugar for exfoliating twice a week and leave the lemon and sugar on for 5mins before washing....

Re: Lemon, glycerin and rosewater
