hi girlies,
Im getting married in 3weeks and got my lehnga yday as it was on order in india, nehow…the lehnga is gorj all the jewelry iz perfect, the only issue is the neckline is small and im sure i told em to keep it at 7inches as the necklace is quite big, however iv tried it on with the jewellry and it looks like im suffocating and im not sure wat to do, the bottom of the necklace goes over my kameez… wat do i dooooooooo??? i cant even get it altered because theres kaam evrywhere…

u shud hav gone for a minimum 8inch if u wer to wear a heavy necklace with it.. did u measure the size of the neck urself i doubt it wud b 7 even if it looks like its choking u... ur guna havto do sumthing about the neck get it cut even if the works there i mean go to a specialist they wud do it quite neatly infact if there is lesser work at the back then get the back of the neck cut deep tat wil naturally help lower the front too... if not then u shud probably think about geting a realy light necklace so tat atleat it doesnt look that bad..

how do you measure the neckline
they took the measurements themselves, and i cant get another necklace as itz my gold wedding set made from scratch to go with the lehnga.. im actually going to start crying!! is there neone in west london that can fix it? another prob is that the zip runs all down the back of the kameez so cant have a low back.. my mum says it doesnt matter itz just all in my head lol

ur n west london if u wer in pak anyone cud cut it up and hav it fixed in notime replacing a zip is no bigi.. maybe u shud stop worrying about it if u say the lehnga looks amazing and so does the jewelary i doubt anyone wud b botherd to notice the size of ur neckline LOL u just need to look good ul leave a great impression:)
itz really stressing me out because i can see it and already feel like nothings going right

take it to a tailor there where you live, western or desi, doesnt matter. Take his/her suggestion. I am sure there would be some solution. Doesnt seem to be an impossible task. At least try......... so you do not repent later that you didnt try your best.

pls dont get stressed. if there is lots of kham on it where the neckline is, plz plz don't get it altered may ruin show of the dress(and you've already said you love the dress.) So, don't fix it if it isn't broken. Plus, unless you know a tailor who does a good job on other stuff, you don't wanna just give it to any tailor...if they are not good tailor and they don't do properly - the neck of the lengha might not sit properly. I might be wrong though. How about doing this, I know it's not ideal but why not wear the necklace more choker style. To do that, tie up the necklace with the highest fastening you can get making sure comfortable as possible, then you know those see through rubber bands for hair you get in shops tie that around it so it sits like choker necklace and tuck the extra necklace inside the back of your neckline-will this creeate more space for you between top and necklace? Doesn't matter about neckline at back, your dupatta will be covering that.
If that doesn't solve problem, how about wearing as is...I know that was not the look you were going for but that is a style I've seen brides go for too.

okay this is what you need to do.
get some cloth and get it dyed to match the colour of your top. take it to a tailor. you will have to take the stictes out from top bit of neck-line and shoulder sections, and will have to sew the matching cloth there.
the extra cloth peice can be covered up using your hair, or the dupatta. no one will notice this.

go to green st or southall you will find cloths to match your top and endless tailors who can help you.

I think green street is really good for finding kapra.
One of my friends had this exact problem with her valima outfit, but she went to a western wedding dress make because for some reason she trusted them alot more :S but there are loaaaaaaaaads of tailors in london!
anyway what they did with her dress is someone undo the shoulder stiches and fold it back an inch both on the front and back and then lined it with material so it woulnt hurt her. and it also meant they werent doing any cutting off of things.
Also cant u contact the origional makers and see what they can do. they said they measures you themselves so do they have people in london?

If it is really bothering you (as it obviously is) you should take it to a reputable tailor/seamstress even if they're not desi. They might be able to at least give you their expert opinion on a possible solution.
Don't get stressed. There is always a solution.

how does your necklace look like? how abt removing the bottom line of the hanging stones from the necklace and tying it higher?
