lehnga flare of this sort ...

ummm … i dont know if this fits here or in the bazaar-talk … shift appropriately ..

to my question … i L-O-V-E the flare of this dress. Is it possible to get a lehnga made in lahore with such a flare? know any darzis or home-designers who can do this?

plus … ofcourse with such a flare, it means the overall shape of the dress would be the mermaid-style lehnga … so … is that cut still in .. or will i look like a outdated-zero-brainer???

(sorry for incorrect terminology, if that is the case … i cannot tell a gharara from a sharara unless told so)

or mayyyybe … just mayyybe … you know someone who can create this dress AS-IS … as in no two separate top and bottom …

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

it looks like a lace dress. should be easy for anyone to replicate. if you go to any of the designers, they can make you one from scratch, for a high cost (it wont be exactly the same, but you should be able to get a one-piece lace dress, custom made).
these days all the "designers" make western style dresses.
as for the regular darzis.... really depends on the darzi. you would really have to hunt one down in the bazaars in liberty but im sure you will find at least a few to narrow down from.

kher … chahay lace ka banwao ya jamawar ka … i was really liking this flare … but jab ye beech mein seyapa high cost tag ajata hai na … :frowning:

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

Lol @ high cost..btw, what does 'seyapa' mean??

As for the dress, it's called Fish cut here in Mumbai and is pretty much in..I request those 99 viewers to have the courtesy to reply about Pak's latest trends!

Let's just say 'seyapa' means problem. It is Punjabi, BTW.

Latest treds coming up for you. :)

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

Haha, okay! So far I've learnt just one word in Punjabi, i.e Shughali..you wanna be my partner in crime while practically applying that word?

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

you could only get a designer to replicate this for you and not all of them could do it. nilofer would be a good choice.

personally i think no darzi or home designer could do it right. it would look a hot mess.

Re: lehnga flare of this sort …

:cryb: nilofer aunty jo phir mangein gi na badlay mein is cut k … wo meri pushtein he phir karza utarein gi … but i agree … wrong hands would easily turn this into a hot mess … hmphhhhhh .. zalim economy!
think farrah think! like something uncomplicated for a change!

hahaahh .. mahi is right ... problem is an innocent translation of the punjabi word seyapa!

And Pak's latest trend is the amna kardar rip off and bunto long shirts with the two legged thingy ... that's it i guess ...

englighten me oh mighty GS!

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

forget trends!

go for what you like. if it's timeless, even better.

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

Ok, can't the dress be designed by the Western designer who designed it in the first place? You can change the colour and make the shirt heavy with a simple skirt as the flare would be compromised if it is too kaam heavy. The style should resemble a mermaid sharara as the traditional lehnga would look too poofy.

Re: lehnga flare of this sort …

dresses in this collection are £6000+ :hayaa:

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

Is that a Tamara dress, farrah? Why are these dresses so expensive? I saw many listed for resale, too.

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

yes it is a tamara ... i have no freaking idea why they are so expensive ... it's from the pronovias collection ... i havent seen price tags along with where the dresses are put in a gallery ... i saw them elsewhere in a forum where they were being discussed.
Although one of their outlets is on my way to school ... but damn i am always late ... and if u walk into one of these places, it's not easy to get out ... whether because of yourself, or a sticky salesperson!

but oh my mahiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii i just saw two FREAKING amazing Monique Lhuiller gowns! drools flood my house

but where did u see them listed as resales?

p.s. i emailed sara (sublime by sara) to see what she says ... wise or unwise? anyone who knows what she charges on average?

Re: lehnga flare of this sort …

I saw Monique Lhuillier Wedding Dresses up for resale on Pre owned wedding dresses’ website. They are sold now but they went for huge amounts as you said. Maybe they make the lace of each dress and that raises the $$$. Look here:

New with tags Monique Lhuillier Wedding Dress Tamara, Size 2

Tamara | Used Wedding Dresses | Once Wed

Used Monique Lhuillier Wedding Dress Tamara with Jucinda sash, Size 6

BTW, did you contact any Pakistani designer for the dress? I am willing to help if you want to.

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

i asked the following people and awaiting their response:

  1. kuki concepts (my engagement dress was from his as well)
  2. sublime by sara
  3. aisha imran ali << she is a bhabi of a friend, and apparently has a store as well in siddique trade center ...

i dont know who to ask, and what the budget SHOULD be, since i am of the understanding k pakistan mein kapray ki value uski quality, and more importantly, uper kye huay kaam ki basis per hoti hai (k kitna heavy hai) ... so
what do you recommend?

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

Let's see what quotes they come back with. We can discuss that afterwards. The question is will they find similar French Lace in Pakistan or not?

Also, do you want it to be a Western dress or a lehnga?

Re: lehnga flare of this sort ...

well that's a tricky question. i am still torn between my decisions ... i love our traditional bridal wear, and would love to have them for both of my main days ... but for the reception here in the netherlands i was definitely thinking of a western styled gown. i want my barat jora to be ultra-traditional, so i will wear it for a while, but not too long ... they dont really offer easy mobility ...
on the other hand, thinking of the costs that shall incur ... i also had in mind to perhaps play around with the gown in a way that it passes of as a local thing combined with a dupatta and appropriate jewelry ...
and french lace, if it has to be ... i am up for purchasing it myself for whoever is to design it ... i dont know how that will work out ...
