Do you know of cases where a legit couple, a legit marriage, etc, having issues with the immigration/green card/naturalization process in the US? Seems like the process is a really annoying one with lots of time involved.
It's not anymore. The main problem/concern of the entire process is the interview that the groom (usually) has to give in Pakistan before he gets the visa. If the guy is nervous/agitated, in the cases i've seen, the guys is rejected and the process is made long and annoying. If you're fine, calm..cool...and have all your paperwork properly done...it really doesn't take long.

You just have to be seriously organised and responsible with all the paperwork. I know of couples here who only took like a couple of months where the husband or wife were able to come over and others who took a few years due to issues with paperwork and stuff.
But you know what they say, where there is a will, there is a way. So you just have to be patient when waiting for visa stuff to come through.

Is it faster if the guy is in the states, marriage happens in the states, and he files for papers from here?

Yes, it is a very faster if the guy is in states even for visit visa. After applying, he will get work permit within 2 months, temporary green card within 3-4 months. Once he is in states, he needs to make sure that he does not travel out of US until he has received his temporary green card.
I had a friend who got nikkahfied in Pakistan. The process took 2 years for them. The husband arrived in states last week.

I know many couples where it took the guy 2+ years to get here. In one case, it took the guy 4+ years to come here.
Average time to come here is 9 months to 2.5 years. Alot of these people had nothing wrong with paper work, and did everything through a good lawyer. The problem is name checking. If the guy has a name that is similar to a criminals. Then they will get into something called "administrative processing" where they do a lengthy background check, and if your in that, Good luck, because immigration will not let you know where you are in the process, and how long it will take. They give NO information.
Best advise I can give, is to try to give all the paper work correctly, and as soon as possible, and do it through a lawyer. Keep records of what you are sending as well.

Very fast, because he is already here, while the paperwork is being processed. Plus there is no issue of waiting for the guy to come. Also, they will get a temporary GC. So, if you see that the guy is actually bad, or he tricked u for a GC (ive seen your other posts) you can cancel it.
If it takes the guy 2+ years to get his visa, Immigration will automatically give the guy a 10 year permanent visa. So you wont get the chance to see his intentions.

^why its so difficult to import guys from pak when its not at all difficult for girls to move there on spouse visa & stuff.......... I have seen guys, who are settled in US, getting married to paki girls & they import their brides within 2 or 3 months .......

why does it take so long? a guy on a work visa can bring his spouse over in under a month. should be similar for a citizen or GC holder, one'd think.
