Legality of the tax avoidance

Whats with this whole Panama Paper crisis going on.

From the corporate perspective , why is this whole concept of tax avoidance legal?

Re: Legality of the tax avoidance

Good question. I think its not legal in most countries to evade tax. But everything is going through a third company, a dummy company. That part is legal.

I think some lawyer on GS like @Shamraz_Khan can tell better if its legal or not

Re: Legality of the tax avoidance

so if its legal , what's this crisis about?

Re: Legality of the tax avoidance

There are two things. One is being legal and documented, while other is being legal but not documented or not shown. This is the later case. And also in most of the cases its done to avoid taxes. I think avoiding taxes is something considered illegal in most of the countries. Or in case even if its legal, for a person who is a top authority in a democratic country it brings a shame.
Ofcourse for autocratic countries like KSA, syria or UAE, you can see there are zero voices raised.
