here i agree with PCG - oh god this must have been first time! ;)
PCG wouldnt have issue meeting this guy if he wasnt after her friend and her friend didnt like for herself.
You should really rethink about this friend of yours who ask you to go for someone she didnt think was worth it. she may or may not aware of this hurting yourself by proposing this to you. according to me she shouldnt have done that.
You did the right think, she deserved that!.
personaly I wouldnt go for someone in this situation. though it never happened to me.
a similar thing happened though - I went to see a family and their daughter for my close friend, and end up in awkward situation when that family all over me actully got intersted in me instead of my friend. I ran off and never met them again.
I couldnt do this to my best friend even they never got hitched.
