Today I was ni the doctor’s office and i was waiting, they had on AccentHealth, hosted by sanjay gupta :yummy: … there was this recipe for Potato-Leeks soup with cheddar toast… it’s not too complicated and I wanna try it but can someone tlel me what exactly r leeks?

Leeks are a type of vegetable...i remember we had them quite often growing up in England...they r very good for u...Leek soups are healthy n nutricous...they help clean ur system of toxins, therefore good for weight loss (low in calories too)...they kinda look like big spring onions and come in white and green...i think they r more popular during Autumn to Spring months...not everyone like the taste of them (like with a lot of veggies), but they r sweeter than normal onions...i've heard they r good in preventing cancer...u can put them in salads too, or even in an omelette...but they r very good for ur health if u boil them.

I think I had them steamed and they werent bad at all! They look kinda like spring onions like Kashmiri said, and when i ate them, they didnt have a strong taste either. But why dont you try making a small portion of the soup to see how you will like it?

Leeks are what all nice welsh children are raised on. You're forced to eat raw leeks if you have been naughty and cooked ones if you have been good. I always had cooked leeks.

I feel homesick now.......

this one desi site calls leeks "vilaiti pyaaz" or "chhoti pyaaz"
i guess since it comes from the onion family.

I had them in my head years ago and couldn't get rid of them, even with anti-dandruff shampoo
