Re: Leeds University

Not studies at Leeds uni but it's one of the red brick unis, good rep and great city. It's right on the town centre.

Re: Leeds University

Any idea of rent cost in Leeds, weekly. Inc of bills? Say 200/month? Is that realitisic?

Re: Leeds University

Leeds is the 3rd biggest city after London, Birmingham. It comapred to the aboce two has crap public transport. Just as much demand for housing and city centre place. Expect to pay around £80 a week for accomondation (inc bills) and around £60 a week for living off.

Best place would be to check leeds.ac.uk

I dont know which uni have been to but in UK theri are 3 big groups:

Historic: Oxford, Cambridge - Really old universites, full of history and hard to get in. A lotof cutting edge research.

Red Brick: Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle. Nearly all of these have their roots in medicine. They where different in not being snobs compared to OxBridge and you didnt need to be a protestant christian to attend. These guys are now based around research too. So that means loads of cool, clever professors but a lot of hard work on your own. Most of these built in 19th century.

Polytechnics: Usually colleges, now into universites. Most relatively young less than 50 years old. A lot less research, some do none. Based more on teaching and giving you skills. Usually smaller and nicer homy feel.

Re: Leeds University

£80/week?

Thats similar to London...

Re: Leeds University

thats what you should expect to pay for decent accommodation with en-suite.

http://www.leeds.ac.uk/accommodation/costs.htm

it’s in fact a little more than what I pay for en-suite at Birmingham.

Re: Leeds University

Esse, PG arent eligible for uni accomodation.
