Leasing a new Car. Need advice

I’m very close to leasing a new car (Nissan Sentra 1.8s 2004). I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I’m going to test drive the car in a few days, and I would like to sign the deal that day as well. I’m not really a car person, so its not that I won’t like the feel of the car.

I have to haggle the price as well. Anyone know how much $$ I can easily get off?

The deal is 2500$ down, and 279$/month (Final price, after taxes) for 48 months.. I think I will also want the Personal Security Package (1200$) more.

This is going to be my first car, so i’m excited, and nervous at the same time..

Also, I know some of you might suggest the Buying is a better option. I’ve done the math, and in my opnion, its not (atleast for me).

Lease can be openended or closed. In one of then you have to buy the car at dealers price. Make sure there is no fineprint stating that you have to buy the car at the lease termination (unless you want to!). Leasing dealers make money when you return the car. They can charge quite a lot for over milage, scratches & any other damage. So instead of saving , you can end up loosing $. But you if plan to lease another one from them afterwards, they may not hit you as hard.

Good luck.

I bought a new car a while back and now I don't think I will ever do that again. So, I guess you don't wanna hear my views.

Though Nissan is a great car, you will enjoy it!

Thanks Roshnie. I'll talk about it before I sign anything
Ahmadjee . I'll listen.

Before you make the deal final. Do some acting. The purpose will be to tell them that another Nissan dealer is offering you a better deal. Being a dealer, they will most likely match that deal.

Here is how it goes.

You enter dealership with intention to buy (but you dont show it)

You drive the car.

Return to dealer and discuss final payments.

You suddenly backout. Saying : "Woah noway. The other dealership (name a Nissan dealership in the area) threw in free servicing for 2 years. This is too expensive."

They will most likely understand your side, and will begin offering to throw in deals. Perhaps an optional feature for free, or perhaps rustproofing for free.

You then purchase.

Another point. Make sure you tell them to use stainless steel screws for your license plate. Dealerships usually place cheap screws on as default. These screws rust when it rains, and become impossible to remove when adding license stickers. The only solution is to visit the dealership where they charge you to remove the rusted screws.
