Are there any schools where foreigners can learn to speak Urdu in Karachi? I was hoping someone could give me some information, a friend of mine is going to Karachi soon and wants to learn Urdu while staying there. Thanx!
hmm, Alisha, im not sure about which institutes offer such short courses for ppl coming from foreign countries. but, she will definitely be able to get hold of any pvt tutor who could teach her the basic language. otherwise there's this karachi campus of the National University of Modern Languages that offers courses in many languages of thwe world. they might have Urdu too!

ive heard a lot of international students come to university of karachi to learn urdu. he might want to check with them.
I have mailed both the National University of Modern Languages and the university of Karachi, but I still haven't heard anything... Any more ideas?
Check Berlitz out. They not only teach foreign languages to locals but also Urdu to foreigners.
