Re: Learning to stitch … years later!
There are hardly any templates/patterns for desi clothes but you can find plenty of patterns in Vogue, Simplicity, McCall, Kwik and others and can adjust or modify them. But I suggest you take few sewing classes for learning to read and use the patterns. You can also find some free patterns on BurdaStyle or alternatively you can order it online, they’re cheaper than other brands. http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns
you can buy the patterns online or purchase them in your local fabric shops or even in John Lewis.
I have a Janome sewing machine which my teacher recommended for beginners, it costs around 120 to 150, I wish to buy a good one for £300-400 later on. You can also visit a sewing machine store and look for 2nd hand sewing machines.
For patterns you have another choice which is tracing paper. You can buy tracing paper and draw your patterns by using your shalwar kameez etc.
Salam stoppit…i need to cover children’s syllabus in next 6 months so just don’t get any time to post so i just come and look at some threads without logging in.
