article about how poor bangadesh develped pharmaceutical
industry

indeed Bangladesh has put in great effort to develop a pharmaceutical industry, but it remains to be seen whether these industries are really wanted in a country. It has been shown that such industries have some very malignant interests and indeed will even harm persons only to get their products sold.

I've been told that the industry spends around $20,000 per family doctor each year to 'convince' them to prescribe their products.

Now that's cynical. Some marketing is always required when a new product is put on the market, to make sure that doctors are fully aware of the product and the way in which it works.

If a new drug is on the market, and a doctor does not know much about it, she is unlikely to prescribe it to her patients. Therefore, companies must spend money to make sure docotors know and understand the product.

there is a difference between giving informational info and 'info' they give.
I've seen such ppl coming with all kinds of tables and graphs from studies (they conducted not independently). Start mentioning a lot of benefits, and somehow none of these products seen to have drawbacks.....:o
and in the end theyll give you a very nice (at times expensive) gift with their brand name on it.........
