learning about makeup

Salaams gals,

Ok i need help. I know nothing at all about makeup and I want to learn as will be getting married. Any ideas of basics, like foundations etc? And how to apply? I was interested in getting makeup by a company called provoke that is catered for asian women, but havne’t been able to get hold of a catalogue yet.

Sounds silly but are there places I could be taught about all this kind of stuff?

Anyway any help, tips would be much appreciated.

ukwali,

sorry to disrupt your topic, but that was cute. marry me?

Too late I am already happily engaged :D

Yes, you can learn about application from reading books on it and then experimenting, or simply by going to a makeup counter and telling them you want them to do your face in shades they think will suit you. While they are applying it, ask them what techniques they use, they like to talk in hopes to increase their sales revenue. If you like something they apply, you can buy it.

I myself learned by watching others, then experimenting, and I still cant apply eye makeup well. sigh

Mubarak ho on your engagement. smile

welll for foundation, choose one that matches ur skin, i dont believe in testin prodicts on ur hand, so dnt, that never works, always choose one that matches ur jawline, so test foundation above ur jawline, i dont liek makeup that has complete coverage, its cakey n it looks fake, sumthin liek "so ingenious" by Estee lauder is perfect for me, good coverage n it blends in skin perfectly... i def recommend it... to much makeup looks too gaudy,

Um.. most important rule... either keep the lips neutral/light when u have heavy makeup on eyes, but if u got light makup on eyes u can keep ur lips dark.

I use products with a hint of shimer in it... n to make eye shadows stay long... aply it with a wet brush, this gives u control over application n shading... i got more tps.. ill write them down later..

Salaams,

Thanks munni and Deviliciousss or your advice.

Munni: i will try that, feel a bit shy though going into a store and asking them to tell me about stuff :D

Deviliciousss: I will check out estee lauder, and try what you said about how to test foundation. I look forward to reading the other tips you have also :)

I have ordered a catalogue of a company called provoke who specialise in makeup for asian women, I know it will be a bit difficult to really know what shade etc suits me from just looking at a pic, but I thought it might give me some ideas anyway.

found sumthin today.. i hope its help ful… How to put on makeup?

Aleezay thanks. I will check that out for sure

Book yourself in for a make up lesson at any Mac counter, they come highly recommended and the cost of the lesson is redeemable against any products you buy. I think the lesson lasts a couple of hours so its pretty in depth and they give you a special chart and instructions showing what and how they applied the various products.

Lancome and Clinique also do mini makeup-tips sessions at their counters in department stores, so if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to make yourself an appointment. They’ll also help you identify colors, products, and schemes in their respective lines that are suited to your skin-type and complexion.

PS: congrats on the engagement :flower1:
