lean meats

OK so what qualifies for lean meats? besides chicken breast n fish.

Don’t tell me the terms I can find when googling it, I need to know what to tell our local butcher who hardly understands english when I am getting the halal meat cuts. I normally just tell him “x pounds of chicken and y pounds of lamb”. I don’t really know which piece is good which is bad :frowning:

BUT, now I’m going on the southbeach diet (or some modified version) so I need to eat “lean meats” and can’t just keep cooking my handis with whole chicken pieces.

Your help will be greatly appreciated

Re: lean meats

For chicken/ turkey: Any skinless white meat would be considered lean. Dark meats tend to be more fatty.

For lamb: Leg or shank, and loin (which is the cut of meat behind the ribs) are lean.

For ground meats: Ask your butcher for low or nearly no fat in the meat. Or ask from ground meat from the same cuts above.

Good luck with your diet!! :)
