Leading test runscorer for 2001

Australia’s Matthew Hayden scored 131 against South Africa on Monday to pass Brian Lara as the leading runscorer in the world this year.

Leading runscorers in 2001

1250 Matthew Hayden
1151 Brian Lara
1089 Herschelle Gibbs
1035 Mahela Jayawardene
918 Jacques Kallis

This piece of statistics means nothing Mr. Moderator unless you also mention the no. of tests played alongside.

Ehsan stepped on some toes there, I see!

Honestly I didn't even notice what you are whining about but now I know. Anyways, who cares!

I'm most impressed with Lara (based on the list), he probably scored half of his tally in the last test series. Sad that he's unfit and won't be making it to Pakistan. If he were coming, it would have been a very good series given Pakistan's poor home record and his amazing form.

Old Monk, You do have a point, however the purpose of this posting was to record the total number of runs scored rather than the average at which they were scored. I will try and find out the statistics you are looking for and post them if I find them.

Here are the number of tests played.

1250 Matthew Hayden 13 - 23
1151 Brian Lara 9 - 18
1089 Herschelle Gibbs 12 - 19
1035 Mahela Jayawardene 12 - 18
918 Jacques Kallis 12 - 20

The first figure after the name of the player is the number of tests played and the second figure is the number of innings played

SRT 1002 (10 tests, one innings to go if hegets to play it)

Lara has played better. He has played 5 less innings than Hayden and he is only 100 runs behind.
I think instead of the runs, they should look at the averages which shows better view of who is better.

Thank you, come again

i also think lara has been best. he had wonderful tour of lanka. i donno averages. but i believe he will have best average too,

Oh Mr. Andy F. is not here??? I thought he played very well last yr.
