LCS VS OCS - File Transfer Issue

Hello folks.

Has anywhere here worked with MS Office Communications Server 2007? and the previous version, MS Live Communications Server 2005 SP1?

LCS supported file transfers for federated users across the board, through the firewall & access proxy without any problems…OCS isn’t allowing file transfers like that…federated users are able to use the file transfer feature when sending something to other users at the same end of the firewall, but not through it…

verified that the required ports are already open on the firewall too…

so is there some configuration that’s missing on the OCS server?

shucks :(

yes me have worked with both LCS amd OCS but only SIP intigration with Nortel and Cisco PBXs.. No file transfers.

Re: LCS VS OCS - File Transfer Issue

yea, we're moving towards unified messaging...voice integration will be part of that...for now it's just moving everyone in the organization towards a common IM platform, using OCS 2007 and office communicator...

thanks Mo :)

Re: LCS VS OCS - File Transfer Issue

Look in active directory group policy editor and load the rtcclient.adm template, it should allow you to set your own ports or at least edit settings related to file transfer and LCS in general.

Also, I assume you are using SIP? Make sure the firewall supports that.

What kind of firewall is it?

Re: LCS VS OCS - File Transfer Issue

missed ur msg JL! Thanks for the suggestion...

already made sure GPO is configured properly...

got a BS ans. from Microsoft...saying that ALL ports need to be open on the firewall for file transfers to work on OCS, as the software uses/picks random ports each time...will keep u posted if i find something else :)
