can anyone tell me how long does it take to finish a law degree in UK if a person moves from canada and has already done his or her Grade 12 and is now in 3yrs of Crimnology degree?
I heard that you’ll have to do Grade 12 again and then apply for law school and also if you **dont **want to study as an international student then you have to wait till you get a citizen. (let say you get married to a british born person)
LL.B in Law (full time) takes 3 years. For direct entry to level 2 or final year, I don't know about now but It wasn't allowed when I was doing my bachelors due to the law society requirements in this country. BUT if you have done certain modules that are taught here then maybe you'll be allowed to skip the entry level.
International students have to pay a hefty fee unfortunately, you are looking at the region of £8.000 per annum and the fee increases by £100 or so every year. Taking out a loan here is done via the Student Loan Company and once you have graduated, your repayments start the following year; only though, if you are earning more than £15,000 per annum, and then small repayments are automatically deducted from your account on a monthly basis.
You student loan from Canada will be worthless here. You'll have to clear that separately. Re citizenship, just search for Home Office in Google and read through the home office website for entry requirements.
Good Luck!

PS** It'll be better If you either email or telephone the student services of the Uni' you wish to enrol at for further and more accurate information.
thanks so much for taking time out and replying to me....
i was almost giving up as i thought no one on this forum knows the answer...
actually i was looking for some aprox answer as to how many years of studies am i looking for.
Because in canada after i finish my bachelor's i'll have around 3 more years till i have my LLB with barrister's degree. so all together its 7years after grade 12
What i heard was that in uk they dont accept our grade 12 so you have to do it again if your average is below certain percentage (i think its 60% not sure) so 1 year that plus you have to do 3 years of full time studies (how many course per semester are you talking about?? and altogether how many courses there are (ours is 20 courses for diploma plus 20 course for degree plus 3 yrs in law school)
If you have already done your law degree in Canada...then just do the GDL conversion course which takes one year, and then after that you'll have to do the LPC/BVC which is also one year of study.
Firstly you need a 2:1 or 1st to be picked for the LPC (this is more highly recommended) this will allow you to practice law in the uk. Also depending on your modules you are studying/ have studied and the reputation of you university you can get transfer to a uk uni. The best bet would be to talk to an admissions officer or the person who is the course programme manager. Look at this Law (Senior Status), Undergraduate courses at the School of Law, Queen Mary, University of London and try to find equivalent from other universities. Note unlike the American and Canadian system barristers and solicitors are diff in the uk and have diff roles and diff associations and training
If all of the above fails then also call universities to see if your year 12 grades will qualify you for a place to study LLB law and if they say they do then you will have to apply to university through UCAS. International fees are 10K for non-lab based ones.
