This was today’s Ayat in my Ayat of the Day Calender:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
“O you who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): nor let some women laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): nor defame not be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames…”
Surah Al-Hujurat 49-11
Just thought that it would be a good reminder reading this, because I see a quite a few of these things going on here at GS sometimes.
@Afshi: Surah Al Hujrat is itself very good chapter. mostly stressed on the piety of Momin while negating the concept of family/tribal/national superiority.
salam alaikum sister everything youve said so far is true, but youve said so little there is potentially areas where what you are saying is hugely incorrect in my opinion.
it would help to know exactly which subject area that you are warning about in your summary
ok, i guess if you need to search around its not what i feared and like i said earlier everything youve said so far is true. may peace be with you
the full ayat, m khan translation:
O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it to insult one's brother after having Faith *. And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.).*
