Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Violence broke out near the site of the Summit of Americas in Mar del Plata, Argentina, as rioters clashed with police.

Anti-globalization protesters, wearing bandanas over their faces, threw Molotov cocktails, setting a bank on fire. Riot police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

An area of more than 20 blocks around the summit site was cordoned off by police armed with machine-guns.

Earlier in the day, 10,000 demonstrators, led by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, marched through the streets in a peaceful rally against U.S. President George W. Bush, decrying U.S. free trade policies and the war in Iraq.**

Bush is among 34 leaders from North, South and Central America meeting for two days. They’ll be talking about ways to create jobs, reduce poverty and promote human rights.

Chavez told supporters this meeting would be remembered as the burial of the U.S.-inspired Free Trade Agreement of the Americas.

The planet “is being destroyed under our own noses by the capitalist model, the destructive engine of development,” Chavez said, adding that “every day there is more hunger, more misery thanks to the neo-liberal, capitalist model.” **

every day there is more hunger, more misery thanks to the neo-liberal, capitalist model.

you got that right even on their own doorstep the US racist government is hated by even their neighbours for what their explotive policies what else!

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Even with all these riots and, no matter how right the rioters are, not much will change. Capitalist society will continue to encroach over the poorer countries and take advantage of their cheap labor.

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Chavez talks to much. He depends too much on his oil and in the end his economy model will not work.

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Then its time for these countries to stand up and not be exploited by the likes of the US and the Europeans!

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

^^

Truly said. These idiots will keep shouting about how somebody is abusing them, but would not lift a finget to save themselves.

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Very true protests like these and actions will only generate momentum to relive them from their current predicament, but also they have to have an alternative ideology to the current explotive capitalist model!

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

I was watching these "riots" with a bunch of other guys at the gym. Pretty soon we all noticed how many cameras were there. Most times there were more cameras than violent rioters! These were not riots, they were carefully staged media events.

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

:bukbuk: staged riots :hehe: whats next i guess the french riots are staged also you need to stop watching that comedy channel called Fox BS News!

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

I have no doubt that these riots were actual riots not staged media events as OG is claming. It was known that there was going to be mass demonstrations against Bush hence a large number of cameras there. Bush is detested at home and abrode, no surprise at what took place.

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Does Brazil feel the same away about America?

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Anybody can feel whatever about Bush, but it is not going to make any difference.
It is time that Bush should go. The movement for Bush's removal should come from within US..

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Oh please.

There have been protestors at the g8 summits for the last 20 years, long before Bush. Before that there were huge anti-nuclear protests during the Reagan era. Carter had his share of protestors. The media is excellent at covering flames and things that go boom. In France, the media is scared to death to go out on the mean streets at night. But when you see more cameras than protestors, perhaps little alarm bells ought to go off as you prepare for some spoon fed propaganda.

Re: Latin America Says NO to Bush and the US!

Spoon fed propaganda to what end OG? Do you think Bush is a popular guy over there???

If Bush was popular it would be pretty easy to uncover. Propaganda is the Jessic Lynch rescue, distaste and anger towards Bush is real, it's not a media run conspiracy.
