Its not only "his" performance that counts you also have to keep in mind
performance of the players ranked after him.
Lets say he had a lead of 50 points from his next ranked player though he is not playing well and loosing 10 points a month and if players below him are not earning points fast enough to fill the gap he will reamin number 4.

Well ,LARA had a dreanm tour of Sri Lanka.And his performance against India and NZL was mediocre.It wasnt as BAD as its being made out here.
As far Inzi is concerned , Inzi is there because of his tripe century.His triple century took him somewhere below 10 to 3rd Place .
Kumble just had a test where he took 7 wickets.
