Pakistan climbers
News Release Date: 28/10/2003

Two South Africa stalwarts are top of the pile for their country after the series with Pakistan. Gary Kirsten shares 11th place in the batting with Herschelle Gibbs, while Shaun Pollock is back at number one in the bowling.

The reasons for Pakistan’s series victory can be seen further down the table. Taufeeq Umar has climbed to 16th in the batting, while Imran Farhat has risen to 52nd. In the bowling, Shabbir Ahmed ends the series in 31st place, after only his fourth Test.

Re: Latest PWC Ratings

:k: great to see him there, many guppies don’t think Razzaq is test material

Re: Re: Latest PWC Ratings

Very confusing, what has he done to be on 4th place.
Unless there are only 5 allrounders in the world.

kallis is the #1 all-rounder in both forms of cricket....
no way pollock can even get close....

You should see who he is competing with - He is just above Heath Streak who is an average bowler and a very mediocre batsman.
Except Kallis, Hardly anyone in that list can be called a TEST allrounder.

It seems to me the definition of 'ALL ROUNDER' has changed. There used to allrounders like Imran,Hadlee,Botham, Kapil who could change the course of the match either as a bowler or a batsmen.

In recent times very few players have the capability to do that and the few come to mind have names like ,Klusener, Cairns, Flintoff & Kallis.

Gilchrist qualifies as a WK allrounder

Razzaq was good 3 years ago, He & Streak can't win a TEST match either as a bowler or a batsman, Jaisurya can't win you a test match as a bowler, Pollock can't do that as a batsman either. They are not genuine all rounders, at the best they can be called bowlers who could bat or batsmen who could bowl.

I think the way the game has changed we havent really seen a geniune all rounder since the Imran , Botham, Kapil & Hadlee era. Kallis is the only one who comes close to the greats as an all rounder. Razzaq has seen good times. Klusner, Cairns, Flintoff they were all useful but not in the same class as the greats.

I agree that he is not that sort of an all rounder as we have seen in past like Imran Khan, Botham etc., but he is a lot more than "bits and pieces". Though he is not main strike bowler and not frontline batsman but he manages to perform good if not best in both sides.

But then there are "best batsman" who can't win you games :p
