Hello,
I planned on coming to the US this August as a new PhD student on an F1 visa. However, the visa situation in Pakistan is terrible, I was approved in May but still no sign of clearing all that administrative processing.
The report date on my I-20 is Aug 15th and I have notifed my school that I might miss that date. They said they can issue a letter stating that’s its OK if I come up to 2 weeks later than the report date.
My understanding was that an I-20 expires as soon as the report date has passed. Has anyone here had any experience where students were allowed in if they had a letter from their university citing visa delays? The last thing I need is to get deported as soon as I arrive!
Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.
