Lata + Madan Mohan = Magic

Just remember these songs (that u never forgot anyway)

“ruke ruke se kadam” or "aapki nazaron ne samaza " or “Baiyan naaa dharo, he balama” or "do ghadi wo jo pass a baithe’ or “Ai dil muzhe bata de” or “vo bhooli dastan. lo fir yad aa gyi” or “Yun hasraton ke daag” or “unko ye shiqayat hain ke hum kuch nahi kahate” or “lag ja gale ke phir ye " or “hum pyar mein jalane waalonko chain kahaan” or " Humse aaya na gaya, unse bulaya na gaya” or “Zara si aahat hoti hain..” or “naino mein badara chhaye”, there is some midas touch in all these songs. Difficult to list them all.

I will write one ghazal of this pair today.

yoon hasaraton ke daag, muhabbat mein dho liye
khud dil se dil ki baat kahee, aur ro liye
yoon…

ghar se chale the ham to, khushee kee talaash mein
khushee kee talaash mein
gam raah mein khade the vahee, saath ho liye
khud dil se dil ki baat kahee, aur ro liye
yoon…

hothon ko see chuke to, zamaane ne ye kaha -
zamaane ne ye kahaa
ye chup si kyon lagee hai ajee, kuchh to boliye
khud dil se dil ki baat kahee, aur ro liye
yoon…

Yeh definitely have to agree with u :)
Madan mohan is among my favourite composers when it comes to old indian classics!

Many of the songs in ur list are hits of their time ..... but there'e another song which im not sure is by mohan ... anyway it goes like ....

Ruk ja raat
teher ja rey chanda
beetay na milan ki baila
aaj chandni kay aangun main
armanaoN ka maila.....

definitely lata .... and wat a classic :)

'ruk ja raat' was shankar-jaykishan.

'Tu jahaan jahan chalega' is a noteworthy omission in my list. Some others are'maine rang li aaj chunaaria' (heard it? you should), , 'jiya le gayo ji mora saanvaria' and 'meri bina tum bin roye', 'meri aankhon se koyi neend liye jata hai', 'nainome pyar dole, dil ka qarar dole', 'jaana tha humse door, bahane..', 'bahare humko dhoondhegi', 'hum hain mata-e-kucha-e-bazar ki tarah', 'teri ankhon ke siva duniya mein rkha kya hain', 'jab jab tumhe bhulaya','main to tum sang nain milake', 'aap ke pahlu mein akr ro diye', 'husn haazir hain, modobbat..', 'jo hamne dastan apni sunayi' , 'naina barse rim zim rim zim' and of course 'sapanon mein sajan se do bate' (my favourite).

I guess with this post I have cobered most (though not all, and there could be noteworthy omissions) of Lata-Madanmohan hits. I picked up from my cassettes.

Naushad had commented that he will exchange all his songs for 'aap ki nazaron nein samza'.

Madan Mohan never got best music director award from Filmfare which is good. otherwise he would have to sit along with anand-Milind's and Anu Malicks and likes.

Alas! Madan Mohan passed away when he was just 51. People will miss his punjab-cum-classical tunes forever.
