Thierry Meyssan, the French writer whose best-seller L’Effroyable Imposture (‘The Dreadful Imposture’) stirred conspiracy theories over September 11 terror attacks believes that the White House is using the anti-terrorism campaign as a pretext to push forward its expansionist aspirations, while presenting no clear definition of what terrorism really means.
Speaking at a press conference with the Society of Muslim Journalists here Wednesday, Meyssan said the United States basically has never had a clear definition of terrorism and takes any action it likes arbitrarily.
He stressed that if Washington ever happens to define terrorism, that definition would never have any palpable example in the world.
“Washington calls the Palestinians who are fighting for the protection of their life and their motherland terrorists which is not acceptable,” Meyssan said.
The United States, he said, has fanned the flames of Arab-Israeli war in order to establish its domination over the world through triggering sectarian conflicts.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the French writer said the White House had planned the reprisal blitz on Afghanistan long before September 11 terror attacks on U.S. landmarks shocked the world.
Meyssan said U.S. officials had arranged a meeting with the Taliban militia and Pakistani officials in June 2001. However, he stressed, they apparently failed to reach an agreement on the topics under discussion.
“When the Pakistani envoy returned home, he told the Pakistani government that the U.S. is planning to attack Afghanistan soon,” he said. 'It was then that Islamabad rushed to make a coalition with Beijing in face the reports are ever substantiated."
Meyssan said the U.S. attacks on Afghanistan were all carefully planned beforehand and they only needed a pretext to make their programs operational.
Washington, he said, had reached an agreement with Hamid Karzai over the future of Afghanistan and everything was prepared for the establishment of a modern Afghan government, particularly when the main obstacle, Ahmad Shah Masoud, had been killed.
Karzai has double citizenship, that is U.S. and Afghanistan, has cordial ties with Bush, Meyssan said.
An Israeli firm had sent alarming messages through mobile phones just two hours before the September 11 events, he said, adding, the message was sent for the Jews and non-Jews, but the latter took it more seriously.
The French writer added, none of the owners of commercial firms were present in the twin towers of the WTC at the time of attacks, Meyssan said, adding all of them were invited to a military base outside the city.
George Bush had disappeared at the time of attacks, he said, the site of the warning messages was in Israel as confessed by the Israeli officials.
The attack on the Pentagon was carried out by missiles, he said, adding, the missiles belonged to the U.S. army.
