No I believe Alvi's aren't considered Syed - they are from Ghazi Abbas' family.

Also Bokhari....and no last names formed to Naqvi and Taqvi - I think deriving from Imam Taqi and Imam Naqi

Bokharis I believe are part of Naqvis, as Bokhara is a place from where their ancestors originated.
