I loved City of Gods. But felt sorry for the gun toting kids. You might also like "Sin Nombre" a Latin American/Spanish film on a similar theme. Not as good as CoG mind you, but still pretty watchable.
@Zapatista
That's really good Italian horror/drama. Remember the scene when they show the starving kid in the pit for the first time ? Man, I wasn't expecting it and it really shook me up.
Hablas Español ?
@KamAirTrav
She was not a nice lady at all, *na ? * Poor George Clooney.

Veer is a really $hitty movie, you could have done a lot better :( . Try to catch Amir Khan's "Peepli Live". It's about how a rapacious electronic media trying to exploit the suffering of starving farmers to boost its TRP rating. Highlights a very relevant social issue. Its a dark comedy.
Is anybody here into East Asian cinema. If you are sick of the same old flying kung-fu tricks than try Korean movies. They really make some deep, complex, and entertaining movies down there. Just finished watching "Lady Vengeance" by Chan-Woo Park for the second time. It really kicked a$$. "Oldboy" by the same director is a must watch for any cinephile. But not for the faint hearted, considerable amount of gore in both these movies.

he is a wonderful actor i know and his movies have always been great,thought provoking ones but i think the whole reason i got this movie even if another guy had warned me that it was stupid, was i just watched it for the beautiful clothes and jewelry,
i had zero expectations :Dplus i had just finished with exams, my mind needed a major rest so i was prepared for any mindless bull$hit coming my way in terms of this movie
I think you mean "Il mare". Cute movie . Give it a shot. Tell us if you don't find it at the library.
@El Topo
No man. I have it on my Hard D. But watching scary movies alone is no fun. Will probably watch it with some friends on Sunday. whooo ..
Have you seen it ? How is it ?
It is very good. Brutal, funny, dark, hell you've seen the Vengeance films; you know what this director is all about. But no, doesn't quite pack the same punch as Oldboy, but then few films do. You'll be fine watching it alone, it's not scary in the traditional sense.
Udaan : A good movie with Hollywoodesque treatment but very Indian setting. Deals with how a teenager copes with the fact that his father is a domineering and abusive ar*ehole.
Once : A tender and realistic love story with excellent score. Must watch.
Green Zone: Decent thriller based in Iraq. An US soldier's search for those mysterious WMDs.
