LASIK and Intralase

Ok, for those of you who have had it done , I have a question :

LASIK procedure includes cutting a flap and then laser correction.
Did you have to pay separately for the flap incision? also called intralase?

Anyone had it done in the UK?

Re: LASIK and Intralase

CB - I did not pay separately.

Re: LASIK and Intralase

wow …Njgal you lucky lady :@:

Was it painful then? did they use a blade then? coz thats what they are telling us that they are using intralase only if you pay for it :bummer:

Re: LASIK and Intralase

No - I got custom Lasik. It was bladeless.

no pain no gain - no I am kidding.

There is no pain. They put anethesia drops in your eyes. My whole procedure took 4 minutes per eye.

It feels nothing more than an extensive eye exam. The most uncomfortable part of the whole procedure is the flap under you eyelid to keep you from blinking.

Re: LASIK and Intralase

My Lasik procedure was bladeless too and nothing was mentioned about paying separately for the incision.. I guess the cost included everything.
And for me, the second eye was uncomfortable :) The first was ok. But it wasn't really pain. The whole procedure, the price, the recovery was all SO WORTH IT Alhamdullillah!

Re: LASIK and Intralase

I recently got it done and I had intralase since that’s the advanced procedure they use in lasik. I bought the platinum plan so I never have to pay again for any of my visits and if I ever need another procedure that would be covered as well.

I don’t remember any part of the whole procedure being painfull. They give you valium to keep you calm. Once you are in the room you get numbing drops so never really felt anything in either eye during the procedure.

Afterwards though since one of my eyes got PRK done which is slightly different than Lasik and takes longer healing, that eye kept watering throughout the 2 hours car ride.

Bottomline is I am glad I got it done and no longer need my glasses or contacts.

Ps: My husband got to watch the whole thing sitting outside the room thru a monitor and took such good care of me once we got home and even cooked when my friends came to visit me couple days after. Telling you it’s alllllllll worth it. :biggthumb:

Re: LASIK and Intralase

awww sajal how cute is that .. mashallah :cb:

I wonder why they charge intralase separately in the UK :smack:

Re: LASIK and Intralase

Re: LASIK and Intralase

Re: LASIK and Intralase

All you ladies and germs who had their LASIK intralase done , please i need to ask something important and will value your input :@:

How long after the surgery did your sight settle ... I had LASIK on both eyes , one is perfectly healed and doing well and is very clear ... the other on the other hand is taking its sweet time to heal , i can still feel slight discomfort , but whats worrying me is that the sight is not very clear .. i mean its not as clear as the other eye...

Its my forth day today since the surgery. Should i wait longer for the sight to stabilize? or is it actually something worrying? would i get a 20-20 ultimately?

Re: LASIK and Intralase

CB, as far as I know it shouldn't take that long. When is your apt with doc? Did you see them the day after your lasik?

Re: LASIK and Intralase

yes Sajal i did see the doc one day after ... he said the eye was still healing ... and i have another appointment on the 22nd inshallah. I guess i will get a clear picture then. I just kind of wanted to prepare myself to ask all the right questions this time .... so you reckon its not normal eh?

Re: LASIK and Intralase

I have a silly question.....at least I think that it's silly.....

for those that have had it done.....what did you "see" during the process? did you focus on what was going on or were you not really able to?

Re: LASIK and Intralase

Not silly at all :nessy:

I can tell you what I saw … pretty much nothing but a red light , that i was supposed to look into. Basically your mind is busy tolerating the pressure of the suction ring , which overwhelms every other thing … the doc keeps telling you whats going on , but your concentration vision wise is just on a green light and then a red light … and for a split second you black out as well :@: … not very scary is it?

Re: LASIK and Intralase

I'm not scared of the procedure but I am apprehensive about how I will react.....just want to be aware of what to expect.

Thanks!

Re: LASIK and Intralase

Muzna , inshallah you will be fine … if there are any specific questions you would like to ask regards the procedure , please feel free to ask me :@:

Good luck :hugz:
