there are alot of laser clinics in karachi now and you can get the accurate info about the side affects and all from there. i can give you a general idea though. a lot of guys are getting it done too cause they want to get rid of the facial hair that grows on those parts of the face which they dont want to shave for instance the cheekbone area from under the eyes down to the centre area between side burns and where the moustache starts. for that treatment a guy need around 4 sessions a few weeks apart and that costs about Rs. 20000 but women dont need that much cause they hace very little facial hair. far as side affetcs are concerned the doctors and laser people say there arent any but laser in the long run as other scientists often say, might have some connection with cancer since it's radiation. other side affects are that the skin might get sensitive, red, having pimples etc.

Thanks for the reply haris.
as for the side effect u told that the skin might get sensitive
means it may not

further I heard that there is some other technique which does not involve laser rather it is less dangerous.

Could any one tell abt such clinic

P.S. I am not asking for my self rather to some one else

most welcome moonstar!
yeah about the side affects, it's not definite and varies from case to case, person to person depending on type of skin or lifestyle etc. i forgot to tell you that they also caution the person getting th treatment to avoind going under direct sun for a few months. otherwise the side affects are not really a must or else the treatment would not have been as popular as it is.
the other technique you said might be electrolysis. it doesnt involve laser and is much cheaper but is slightly painful as it is done by using a very very light electric current to burn the hair folliucles to stop future growth but in many case after varying intervals the hair starts growing again, so the method has not proven to be ver permanent.
most beauty parlours etc have the electrolysis facility now and even some laser people have it.
one famous laser inst in khi is Laserex and they have branches in lahore, isl too. their no. in khi is 5872236 ( i think) and its in block 3 clifton.

:k: haris

I've had four laser sittings..is working well for me Allah ka shukar.
I have an acne prone skin. It is sensitive to sun, dust and what not!!

After laser treatments you really have to protect your skin from the sun, though our doctors don't educate us very well about that.I use sublock( use whichever suits your skin..I use Stieffle's, basically becuase it's non oily plus suits me well) . Try using an umberalla..I find that awfully difficult but if you can you should.

Abnormal hairing deals with your hormoes basically , so you have to attach a gynaecologist with this as well, otherwise the hair will keep coming back. I had hormonic disorder and I am getting myself a treatment from one of the best gynaecologists in Lahore..This Laser-Gyno duo is working really well for me.. I can safely say that after the fourth sittin I feel 80% treated..

ABout Laserex, well it doesn't have a really good reputation in Lahore now..They are using a rather old method/machine now than available otherwise..I've heard they give you a swollen face and not very effective otherwise.

I did a lot of research when I started for it, I can't recall it all now but the machine my doctor uses is 'Altus CoolGlide'..they say it's specially for asian tan skins plus it is less painful and more effective.

Do ask you doctor about the method f treatment/machine they are using and search for that on the internet. Also try talking to some of the patients treated by that doctor, it normally helps to get an idea.

Thanks for sharing some information guys :k:

so is there any parlours or laser inst in isb/rawalpindi ?

Dear masi
thanks for ur reply. BTW cud u share some more info

  1. Did u got treated on the chin or on the face.

  2. After how much time u going for the next treatment.

3.After each treatment what is the effect. I mean are there some burning signs ( temporary / permenant )

4.After each treatment cud one start normal things instantly ( I mean one cud go in sun or have to wiat for atleast 2-3 days even using sunblock )

5.what do u mean by 80% treated. DOes it mean 80% of abnormal hairs gone or there thickness reduced to 80%

let me clarify , for whom I m asking did not had these hair always rather she did some cherchar with some hairs by scissor so the thickness increased and now she had 20-25 hairs on the chin which are thick black. I hope that laser treatment will remove them permenantly

Here are the answers

  1. Did u got treated on the chin or on the face.

I had my whole chin, upper lip and cheeks area treated, doctors informally call it 'the beard area'. My major area of problem was my chin but then I thought if I m going for why not get prettier for a coupla thousand more ;-)

  1. After how much time u going for the next treatment.

As my doctor suggested there should be a differnce of six weeks b/w two treatments. It takes this much time for the hair cycle to complete. You shouldn't have a treatment before that time, also you shouldn't delay the treatment for a longer time for effectiveness causes.

3.After each treatment what is the effect. I mean are there some burning signs ( temporary / permenant )

I did not have any burns or swellings.Just had a little redness and itchy feeling which lasted about two/three hours.

4.After each treatment cud one start normal things instantly ( I mean one cud go in sun or have to wiat for atleast 2-3 days even using sunblock )

Before I strated I was also very reluctant because of similar concerns. I couldn't afford a swollen/burnt face as I have to go out a lot, so waited for some long vacations when I won't have to appear in public.Once done, I just go for it in routine. As for the sun I try to visit the doctor in evening so that I don't have an immediate sun interaction. I did have to go in the sun the very next day(wearing a sunblock/using blinds in my car), did not hurt me but I think it is better if you are cautious and avoid sun for some time.

5.what do u mean by 80% treated. DOes it mean 80% of abnormal hairs gone or there thickness reduced to 80%

It means 80% of those wicked hair gone.THe way it works is that 40 to 50 % of your hair are gone in the very first sitting. After that they go by a percentage of 10 to 15 % in each sitting.

There are a few things you to take care of 'before' the treatment. Your doctor may tell you that.( My doc gave me that paper of pre-treatement instructions 'After' my first treatment L )

ANyway those I can remember are that you should not have bleached the concerned hair. Laser does not work on bleached, coloured hair. Avoid sun, too much tan may reduce the effectiveness..sorry that's all i can remember ...

Good luck with this friend of yours.I hope this helps.Feel free to ask any other queries.

my aunt's a doc, and she says she get real bad cases from people who do laser treatments, she says their skins get pretty bad. adn electrolosys is for very patient people dear. i know people who got it, their ok now but for months it it looktheir skin was burned, or that they forgot to shave.

bumping the thread on request

I've also had about 4 or 5 (lost count now) treatments and it hasnt had any bad effects on my skin. I did have a bad burn mark on the back of my leg because the laser was on too high but it has totally gone now. Luckily the therapist got the setting right before I let her near my face.

It doesn't really hurt but feels like someones pinging elastic bands at you, if that makes sense.
