Laser in London

Re: Laser in London

I go to Harley street for my laser. Ive had my underarms done.. and WOW i have such pathetic hair growth now , my underarms are so SO SOFT there is still hair growth there but its very fine sparse hair. I haven't shaved at all since my last treatment 6 weeks ago and there are a few hardly noticeable hairs there.

I am having my face done to , but only sides of face and chin. I've had 2 treatments and they result is so far so GOOD!

i use numbing cream so they use higher temperatures. Also i'm having my full legs lasered as i keep getting ingrown hairs :(

where do you get SPF 100 from? i have been using city block by clinique thats the highest i can find for oily skin :|

Re: Laser in London

How much is this all costing you? Must be a bomb!

Re: Laser in London

Underarms were about £500 for 6 treatments, face is £1000 ( 8 treatments) , legs in £2350 for 4 treatments.

They are excellent in the machines they use. I went for my first leg laser one day before i was due on my monthly, and it was SO painful. they didnt charge me for the treatment as i couldn't even get through half a leg :(

Re: Laser in London

What machines do they have? Is it the Harley Medical Group?

I've had underarms, bikini thong area and full legs done. I only needed 3 lower leg treatments and 4 on the front thigh, which finished a year ago. My lower legs are 90% hair free what's remaining is fine. Front thighs now resemble the back thighs - sparse, fine hairs. Only required 3 treatments in the bikini area for almost complete removal.
Even 4 full leg treatments at my clinic cost £988 (cheaper off peak) and a course of 6 costs £1216 which is a pretty typical price. £2350 for 4 treatments is way over priced.

Re: Laser in London

Atleast i think thats how much i paid ( or my mum paid!)

Did you have a lot of fine hair on your legs but lots of it? i havent started my treatment yet for legs minus the failed one as i was in too much pain!

Re: Laser in London

I go to Court House Clinics which appears to be cheaper: (look at their price list)

Re: Laser in London

On my lower leg it was a mix but mostly coarse which is why they responded so well (as did the bikini line). Back of thighs was/is fine hairs which is why 3 treatments (even though I almost maxed out at settings) didn't give lasting results. Front of thighs has seen virtually all the thicker hairs gone for good in 4 treatments with just the finer ones remaining - yeh, all the hair shed each time and I enjoyed many weeks of being completely hair free between treatments but the finer hairs always come back. Laser can only permanently destroy follicles with dark and coarser hairs.

I stopped at 6 underarm treatments with about 85%-90% reduction. It took a while (few months) after the 6th treatment for the remaining hairs to come through (as expected). There was no point wasting more money on a 7th Laser treatment that probably wouldn't get rid of them permanently so I finished them with electrolysis.

*Tahiya *- Prices seem the same/a little more than my clinic. As far as I know, the Soprano gives pretty mixed results and is very dependent on how well the technician can use it. Just ensure you get complete shedding of all the hair after each treatment and that you see a definite reduction in the growth by the time your next treatments comes around.

If one is Type IV or more a good YAG machine is required like the GentleYAG or Apogee Elite. If the hairs are going to respond, one will see results very quickly and not all the hair coming back by the time the next treatment is due. And the hair should stay away once the treatments are stopped.

Re: Laser in London

do you guys know anything about ipulse machines, are they good?

i have had laser treatment done a some years ago(approx 5+) and the results were terrible, my hair has come back with a vengeance, and they are so so so thick, and so many, after that i recently tried electrolysis, it only helped a bit, but now i am so worried, as im getting married in a week, and i do not know where to go and get treated for this really thick facial hair, and there are so so many !
It ends up looking like a mans face at the end of the month :(
the worst part is, i have a phase with my facial hair, where it is not long enough to thread nor pluck out, or wax, so there just there, looking at me and waving !
its so bad for your confidence,,
i seriously don't know what to do with this
i did have my hormones tested out, everything was normal.
So, i don't know what to do anymore.

any suggestions ?

Re: Laser in London

Hey R_C, I am really sorry to read this. Unfortunately it's a very real risk when having LHR on the face but clinics just don't tell you or say it's very rare. I have been advising users on here for a while now not to risk LHR on the face as I've lost track of the number of cases just like yours. It's called "Laser induced" or "Laser stimulated" growth and happens when one tries to treat hairs that are too fine for laser in areas that are sensitive to androgens. The sensitivity to androgens is generally what causes women to have more hair than others on their faces in the first place.

iPulse is an IPL machine and I would never recommend IPL. Intense Pulsed Light is not the same as Laser and is largely ineffective. Good or lasting results are very rare from IPL machines.

Electrolysis will work for you but you need to see someone very skilled and experienced. It's the only method that will permanently remove your hair. It may not have worked very well last time for a number of reasons; the electrologist may not have been very good or using effective settings or had bad insertions, you may not have been going regularly enough, you may have been waxing/tweezing between treatments etc...

PM me your location and I will see if I can help you find a good electrologist.

Re: Laser in London

Shouldn't this be in Fashion and Beauty?

Thanks a lot for the information Stoppit.

I have been going to the clinic for over a year now every 8 weeks but recently had to stop at my 6th treatment (8 in total) as I was on medication. Alhumdulillah I have had no side effects and the laser has definitely worked cos my technician is good.

Once I have more money I'm thinking of getting full arms and armpits done. But I don't know if I can take the pain cos even having my face done kills so much.

How painful did you find yours? I mean especially in the armpit area as its very sensitive. The RENEW MEDICA clinic is in Windsor as well which is closer to me so I will definitely check it out.

Re: Laser in London

I hope the hair does stay away. As I said, you can experience hair free periods between treatments but once the area is left alone for 3-4 months it can all come back. You have had lots of treatments so if anything does come back don't waste your time with more laser but go for electrolysis.

If you were using the Soprano XL you shouldn't feel much pain anyway? I was treated with a YAG where you definitely do feel it but like most machines it doesn't employ the gliding technique that the Soprano XL does. It's one zap at a time, now if the technician is doing them very fast you don't get any chance to recover from the pain of one before the next comes but you can ask for a pause after every few. I only found the latter treatments where the settings were high painful but I just grit my teeth as it's over pretty soon.

You will find the most pain in areas where there is bone (i.e. ankle) or where the hairs are very thick or dense.

I'm just about to have my 5th 3-quarter arm treatment. I did not do the full arm as..
(1) the upper portion with fine hair is susceptible to induced growth. Even my technician recommended that I don't go all the way.
(2) as the hair is fine, it's unlikely to respond permanently to Laser. Even over the rest of my arm I can see that the finest hairs in each cycle won't be gone for good.

Re: Laser in London

Can someone tell me where to get SPF 100 please!!! i'm going to australia in 2 weeks and i need a high spf after my laser treatment !!!

Thank youuuuuuuuuuu xxxx

Re: Laser in London

I have read that SPF 30 is more than sufficient but you need to make sure it has broad spectrum protection.

Re: Laser in London

The Soprano XL does hurt a lot trust me even though they claim its pain free. It's cos I did have some thick hair on the side of my face and the upper lip kills the most. I haven't had any treatment for about 4 months and the hair is growing back which is finer but the technician said even once all your treatment is finished you still have to have top up treatments once-twice a year.

Ok well I definitely would get 1/2 or 3/4 of my arms done if thats the case.

Re: Laser in London

The hair that is coming back is the hair that the Laser cannot treat permanently. Top Up treatments are pretty much just for them to get more money from you, Laser can't do anything for that hair. It would be more beneficial to spend that money on electrolysis that will ensure that hair never comes back.

Same as if dormant follicles start to produce hair later, which is very likely on an area like the face. Just have a little electrolysis to get them for good.

Re: Laser in London

Oh ok I might consider getting that done then, I have two treatments left and instead of top up treatments you would advise for electrolysis instead?

What's the difference between laser and electrolysis and how much did you pay at Renew Medica clinic? Cos I might consider getting it from there as its near me.

Re: Laser in London

Definitely. Rather than spending more money on Laser that won't even work permanently, may as well spend it on electrolysis that will definitely work.

Electrolysis targets one hair at a time by inserting a needle in the follicle and passing a current but it can get any kind of hair. It doesn't matter what the colour is or thickness. My approach is to have Laser where ever it will definitely work as it's quicker for larger areas and more cost effective for those.

You do need to invest more time in it with weekly sessions or so at the beginning but it's worth it to know the hair is actually being killed.

For Renew, lower face and front of neck is £116 for a single peak time treatment.

Re: Laser in London

I still need a good SPF ladies help!! i dont like the soltan one from boots.. they dont work well under my make up !!

Re: Laser in London
