laser hair removal

just got it done yesterday… first treatment.
damn it hurt like hell!
wow i was quite surprised i didn’t think it would hurt as much… but maybe i have a low pain tolerance too.

So other girls… have you tried it?
and if so how are the results?

Re: laser hair removal

I had IPL - which is similar to laser. Had 6 treatments and was a complete waste of money...Initially I was told 6 treatments would be enough but then my therapist was like "Your gonna need at least another 6..." Something she coincidentaly didnt mention before.

Anyway, I had a bad experience with it. I saw NO difference..in fact my hair is worse than started :(. My sis is trying laser by Cynosure, her therapist is doing a fee based on each session rather than a block booking which is what I had done previously. So far hers is pomising, will decide whether to go ahead with it once I see the final results with her!!

Re: laser hair removal

Good idea. Keep trying. No man likes a hairy woman.

really? No difference? Well I am getting the Nd:YAG laser. My friend had IPL done i think and she said it burnt her skin. So I went with the laser. And I have the 4 session package.

Summayyah can't you ask her for a refund or the additional treatments to be at a discounted rate?

Urgh. Enough said there.

I'm surprised IPL burnt her skin. Any additional treatments shes gonna charge me for and sadly theres no question of a refun. Even at a discounted rate, I may need up to 24 treatments with the IPL.

hiya, ok firstly no therapist should tell you 6 is enough....by any means 12 is the MINIMUM.....and ive had it done..im on my 7th session and iv noticed a considerble difference....not gone compelty but its reduced significantly..i think you were duped and went for the fake one, where the allegedtherapist knew nothing and burning skin isnt even in question...

anyway how much did you pay....price says alot!

ok so you girls had IPL done? My friend who did IPL said at first they had her on the wrong setting and then fixed it, but even with that she tried it for almost a year and it did nothing. Now she said she is doing laser and its working better. My laser place said after 4 you should notice a big difference and then come in for touch ups once a year or 6 months depending on the area.

Re: laser hair removal

anyone getting the laser treatment done in Pakistan? or knows somebdy who got it done in Pakistan...i just wanted to know how is it over there.

i plan to get it done once i m married (mom wont let me), but fiance of course said sure :) will get it done here in the US.

So i think with the IPL the reviews are not that good. I also heard that IPL does not hurt as much as laser does. I know I was concerned with laser because i am darker and did not want it to burn my skin. But they said with the new YAG laser it cancels out the skin color factor completely.

My therapist was a trained aculight therapist, and I was paying around £65 per session - I got it at a discount cos I had pre booked a session of 6.

My opinion - IPL a complete waste of money - as you'll prob need loads of sessions which will work out really expensive. Unless of course u have a couple of grand to spare. *(Which I dont)

Sadly, I was naive and duped into going ahead with it :(

I hope ur laser treatment works out for u! Dont be put off by the negativity surrounding the IPL treatments.

Re: laser hair removal

Chester, did you apply numbing cream 30-45 mins before the treatment? It helps A LOT, and greatly reduces the pain. Your nurse should have either given you the cream, or told you to buy it at the pharmacy. Also, it depends where you're getting the laser.... face and & neck is definitely more sensitive and hurts more. Good luck on your future sessions!

syani1 she told me i can use the numbing cream but she said that is expensive. I could just take 2 tylenol half an hour before i come in and it would do the same thing as the numbing cream. Im gonna try that next time.
