Look up hair removal on wikipedia. Not many people are going to know the specifics of how the lasers work.

Re: Laser Hair Removal - What to know
Hello girls!
New member here, and I specifically joined this forum to share my laser hair removal experience because I think there’s so much good advice on here from personal experiences, only wish I knew this much before going into it.
I roughly started my treatment 12 months ago nearly. I’m having laser hair removal done on my face with the GentleYag at a clinic in North Harrow (London) called Binsina Laser Clinic. Ugh, I regret it so much! How I wish I could reverse everything.
I started getting it done because I was really conscious of my facial hair, especially my sideburns and chin but when I look back at it now it was really not so bad at all. Previously two of my sister’s friends had laser hair removal done and so I was recommended by them. The Dermatologist there knew my sisters friend beforehand and she had also treated my sister for rosacea at her clinic.
So a week ago I just had my 11[SUP]th[/SUP] session. I notice that it’s just made the hair worse :( and thinking about this makes me so depressed and just want to cry all the time. The hair has gone slightly finer and reduced on my sideburns but there’s more hair on my jawline and neck where I had really fine hair before or nothing. When I had my first treatment, I was told I might as well treat my chin area and whole face because I had “hair” on those areas too. Initially I had just gone for my sideburns. I regret it so much and feel like an idiot because I should have done my research beforehand and prepared myself properly for this. But I was young and I just had this confidence problem regarding my hair so wanted to get rid of it like anything. I also developed really bad acne on my sideburns and chin when I started the treatments which have now thankfully calmed down a lot.
Upon seeing that my hair growth was actually more than before I spoke to the dermatologist several times, and she said it’s possible that some areas may have had fine hair and were treated so it has stimulated growth which isn’t very helpful cos I should have been told beforehand! I’ve spoken to her many times and literally have had so many confrontations with her about this due to which she changed a few things; first of all I’m a student and have been paying for this through my student loan so she agreed to put the price down quite a bit I must say – took a lot of negotiating but then again I don’t see any reason why she shouldn’t since I wasn’t told anything properly beforehand.
Furthermore she said the acne may be due to shaving or dead hair beneath the skin that was not shedding so what she’s advised me to do now is, after 12 days of having the laser treatment I should thread my facial hair. Then after this she has advised me to wait 5 weeks and come back for the next treatment and not to shave, thread or wax this hair and they shave that hair on the day before the treatment. By doing this I notice that there’s a longer interval between growth but the hair still grows, especially on my jawline. The growth I’d say is dispersed and in patches.
Also for the past two treatments I’ve been having overlap treatments. So they do the treatment then give me a five minute break applying an ice pack and then do the treatment again.
I’m continuing with the treatments for now because I really have no other option. But I’ve endured so much through this whole process and I’m just really scared of having more visible facial hair now. I don’t know whether I’m living on false hope or expectations but I really hope to see even a slight improvement. This depresses me so much and now I wish I hadn’t touched my face. Any suggestions or advice on what to do pleeeaease? I’m too scared and worried to do electrolysis or anything and don’t think I am financially in a position to pay for it either.
(oops sorry for the essay lol)
Re: Laser Hair Removal - What to know
I am doing mine from His and Hers in kings cross_london
they are good but overbooked..my appointments are 2 months aparts
i did my 2 treatment last month and no much shedding happened this time... It looks like the most effective area are underarms and bikini...legs n thighs are not working as good so far
Anyone recommand i do belly .i have fine long hair in middle or stomach ... It is so annoying espc no that im hair free at bikini... But i dnt want to mess it more
Re: Laser Hair Removal - What to know
2 months apart is fine for underarm and bikini treatment. In fact, for the bikini you should start stretching this out to 10 weeks, then 12 weeks.
If you read the first post of this thread, you'd know that the thicker the hair, the better it will respond. But to be honest, there's no reason you cannot get at least a decent reduction on the lower legs and thighs - if good settings are used you should get at least full shedding. Again, if you read the first post, you'd know that shedding doesn't mean that the follicle is definitely damaged enough to stop it producing a hair ever again, but the hair does have to shed for there to be any chance of that.
Don't treat fine hair with Laser.
Re: Laser Hair Removal - What to know
What would u recommand for the stomach fuzz then?
And will arm laser be allright for someone who wear mainly short sleeves and is about to go to hot countries in between sessions?

Really informative post!
Re: Laser Hair Removal - What to know
I have gotten lasered too. I was wondering if anyone can help with this.
I have had great results, except for my thighs. I had it lasered several years ago. I don't know if I got burned by the laser? Or I had some sort of reaction, or I need to go again? no idea. but my problem is like this -- you know when you shave, and sometimes you get the "black dots" of where the hair used to be show up? well, mine is like that after getting lasered except its red too.. I am very light skinned, and my hair is pitch black.
any thoughts on how to fix this?

Re: Laser Hair Removal - What to know
I had to wait till I paid other debts off before I could dive into the scary laser-world..I just started laser hair removal on my lower-face + body and have my second treatment coming up in a few days and I love it! I can already see a major difference after the first treatment (took about 15 days till the hair fell out) and I have very little left and growth rate feels stunted and makeup glides on so smoothly I no longer need to spend more than 5 mins. I'm using the CoolGlide Yag 1064nm...I specifically started out last month so I'm all good for my engagement this summer (by then I'll have 6 treatments and the reduction will be a lot more)
I'm going to continue all the way till the 10th treatment to ensure i achieve the maximum reduction possible..Has anyone tried going for 10 treatments and are you even targeting anything at that point or is it a waste of $$$ and should one really just stop around the 7th treatment? I understand everyone is different but just trying to see what the majority says.
