Great thread. So glad to find it. I started with laser and actually had good results under my arms but mixed results on my face. I have both fine hair and thick hair on my face. She used a very long pulse for me because I am a type 4. Even though my upper lip had fine hair, it worked. The laser tech told me that it worked for my upper lip because the hairs were so shallow that the wavelength was able to penetrate even though the hairs were very fine. It helped that these fine hairs were darker than my skin and shallow. The problem was, the laser stimulated hair growth on my face. It did not make the hairs thicker, it just caused more growth. Ugh. I then did some research and found info. about laser stimulated hair growth.

I am now in electrolysis and am going far more often. Laser was every 6 weeks and electrolysis is every week. I have so much growth that I am still working on a first clearing but so far, so good. It looks like it completely eliminated the hair growth on my chin and now she is on my sideburns.

It took a long time, after years of threading, to feel brave enough to do laser and electrolysis. I ended up meeting with about 4 laser places and also met with a few electrologists before finding the right fit for me. You gotta go and meet with these people and get short treatments before you commit.

Hi if you don’t mind me asking, who do you go for electrolysis? I realized you’re in NY too.
