Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

actually i am completly against abut laser. electrolysis is better than laser. i think u should go with it.

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

I just started, paid $1150 for the face area (upper lip, chin, sideburns & neck) and idk whether it's working or not yet. I mean, I had to remove the hair the very next day (shaved since that's all you can do while getting laser) so idk if it's working since I thought I wouldn't have to for a week or so and then it "sheds". Not sure.

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

How many sessions did you have...$1150 is way too much

Hi a few months ago I was looking for the same thing and a guppie reccommended to me the royal free hospital at Belsize Park. I am soooo happy cause of their treatment its been 10 weeks since my last treatment. I went their last week for my treatment and they sent me home saying you dont need it wait for it to grow back. So I am one happy customer.

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

I would go for Electrolysis over Laser on the face. It may get rid of your thicker chins hairs but there is a significant risk of finer hairs increasing in the area and the surrounding it.
Where in the UK are you based? If you're in London I can recommend my electrologist; she'll have those chin hairs sorted without any risk of side effects, definite permanency and you won't need to shave or anything like that.

If you really want to go for Laser, please search and read my previous posts on this topic to inform yourself.

You will want to choose a clinic with a suitable Laser for your Fitzpatrick Skin Type. Most Asain's are Type IV or upwards and therefore need to be treated with a Nd:YAG.
Good YAG machines are the GentleYAG by Candela, Apogee Elite by Cynosure, Coolglide.
I would stay away from clinics that use machines like the Soprano XL or Lightsheer Diode.

The Royal Free Private Laser clinic has some other brand but I know they provide good treatment as my electrologist told me about them and in turn I suggested them to people who have been happy with their results.

Clinics should be registered with the Healthcare Commission.

thankyou so much stoppit!

Im not in london...but i am like an hour away from london, so i could possibly travel to where you recommend.

Why is electolysis better than laser?

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

If you read my previous posts by searching "laser" and my username you will gain some insight as to why electrolysis is preferred over Laser for the face. The two main reasons are the risk of induced growth or ineffective treatments. I can't tell you how many women I have heard from who have had increased growth on their faces due to Laser or have had 10, 20+ treatments and the hair is not being permanently destroyed. Compare this to the underarms or legs where if treatments are done correctly you will get the maximum possible result in upto 6-8 treatments (Laser can't destroy finer hairs).

Electrolysis, when done correctly by an experienced electrologist gives superior results. It's not cost or time effective for larger areas but on the face, in my opinion, it's the best method.

I will pm you some more info later.

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

I'm currently getting laser done. I had a lot of thick hairs on my chin and laser was the answer for me! I got 2 treatments done at $50 each, and I'm very happy to say that I'm hair free!!!! :D

It's been about 10 weeks since my last treatment and no hair has grown back.

However, just be advised that it may take multiple treatments, around 5-6, to obtain the desired results. Laser is also best on people who have dark hair on light skin, as the laser targets the dark pigmented areas. And as mentioned previously, laser isn't very effective for fine hairs.

Good luck!

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

I have had laser treatment done, and believe me it is so much better than electrolysis. It takes less time, and is less painful as the electrolysis is pain each time the needle is inserted. Ouch!!!
I don't know of any association to look out for, first I had my treatments with my aunt who does this and back then about 2 years ago I paid £ per session, ,sides, chin, upper lip neck. Now I am having just top ups as and when required and this time from my friend who lives local and the offer was £300 for 6 sessions. My last session was in Feb may go to see her after eid but the treatments definately works.
Good luck!!!

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

^If you're going back for top ups then it's not permanent and you've been doing it for over two years, which isn't exactly a short amount of time.

If you didn't have a relative and friend giving you discounted treatments, it would be cheaper and quicker in the long run to have electrolysis which is permanent (and you can be done in 1yr -18 months if you do it properly) and no risk of induced growth.

You just don't know what kind of results or side effects you're going to get when you start Laser, there is no guarantee of anything. However, if you go to a good electrologist, who's doing the job properly, you can be certain that the hair will be destroyed for good and that there will be no side effects.

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

Electrolysis is the **BEST **option for facial hair.

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

I paid a ton of money for my legs and bikini area and after 9 treatments, my hair is only lighter.:( maybe i 'll try yag, but don't want to throw away any more money on this:(

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

What Laser did you use? If the hair is lighter now then a YAG definitely won't work because it needs the hair to be very dark and coarse. Having been treated with a very good YAG machine at the highest settings possible, I can confirm this too.

LHR is a delicate process. You need to make sure that the right laser at the right settings is being used for the right type of hair from the first treatment. Otherwise you can end up in this type of situation where the hair isn't gone for good but is too fine for further laser.

Re: Laser Hair Removal...what to know?

Laser treatment is better my sister does it. They gave her a guarantee that with a year of treatment she will be hair free. She tried Electrolysis on her sides and ended with a lot of hair hence the laser treatment with American Laser Center.
