Laser eye surgery

Re: Laser eye surgery

I've thought about it for a couple years now, so I can finally get rid of my contacts.

But working in a hospital, I've had the opportunity to interact with quite a few ophthalmologists and retinal surgeons, and nearly all of them wear glasses themselves. They explain it by saying that even the minimal risk associated with the procedure it too much for them, because their livelihood depends on them having perfect eyesight. But if the surgeons performing LASIK tend to consider it too risky for themselves, I'm a little hesitant to get it...

In any case, based on what I've seen in hospitals in the Subcontinent, I would advise against getting the procedure done in Pakistan. It really isn't worth it to risk your eyesight just to save a few hundred dollars.
