Muzna, sajal, is it honey mixed with something? coz i imagine the natural texture wud be verry difficult to "drop" into ur eyes..

Muzna....im not sure if pure honey is actually suitable to put in eyes.....cuz eyes drop usually have to be sterile.....and honey isnt sterile.

I was wondering what it felt like when you got allergic to the lenses cuz I used to wear lenses all the time and I was so comfortable in them when I was younger but now my eyes get red and dry and feel really uncomfortable and they itch even if they are a new pair of contacts. So now even if I hate wearing my glasses, I have no choice.

I have also been interested in laser vision correction. But after Muzna mentioned about her nephew, I am not so sure. :(
she said he had it done 15 years ago!
one thing you must keep in mind is that 15 years ago the technologies used were those of the time! so o course surgery is safer and lesss risky nowadays!
it would interesting if Muzna could tell us what was the procedure done on her nephew, and if his results are stable, does he have to wear glasses now?
i can talk about my personla experience: i had laser done in a new way, i get to see the doctor the showed on the news on TV, because he was the first to use a new laser technique in paris, that he learned in NYC. This new laser technique involved a laser cut of the cornea and a reshapping ith another laser of the internal eye to correct the short sight
BUT previoulsy surgeons on middle short sighted views were using a classic cut, and then a laser reshapping.
if you read my first post, you'll realise, the halo and night vision problems are due to the scared cornea, from the CUT! so using a laser for the cut instead of a knife, is more precise, and makes a tinier scar. Tiner scar means better night vision, and less halo.
I would recommand to people who can't wear lenses, and can't stand glasses (heat, outdoor physical jobs, exercise, nose problems, etc...) to get laser done cause it's reall changing life.but keep in mind technolgy is allways improving, and the more you wait, the better technologies you can expect;)

He now has difficulty with night vision and this has gotten progressively worse.
There is another problem that he recently mentioned.....I've forgotten. I'll ask him and report back.
I think in this case, it was done a very long time ago...when one of the procedures was just starting out...i think i it was either LASIK or the other one
From what i here, it's gradually improved and nowadays the technology is so advance, the risks have been significantly reduced.
But as always...DO YOUR RESEARCH and consult a qualified laser surgeon

mysterious guy, what is your age? An optician told me the reason eye sight drops drasticaly of teenagers is cz they are growing up. Their body is changing including the eyes, the size and shape. It is very common in growing years so dropping of the eye sight every 6 months has nothing to do with 'not wearing' glasses or lenses. i used to think the same cz i hated wearing my glasses. started wearing lenses 1992 onwards but recently, i've lost interest. so much hassel.
Rb and paris, if you two do not mind, may i ask how much weaker were your eye sights? I mean really really weak like -5 or more or below -2 or something?
And how much is the approx cost of the surgery?

i had -4 on one eye and -1.5 on the other
it costed me 2200€
btw i read that short sight is promoted in teenagers who eat too much carbs ( chips/rice/pasta/bread/cady bars/cakes/soda), and not enough vegies/fruits/lean meat/fish

Does the cost differ if the eyesight is much more weaker? Im -5 in left eye and -5.5 in the right. will it increase the surgery cost?
a number of things cause weak eyes including the nutritions. but that is not it. lack of excercise of eye muscles. yes if you keep at one place. i mean dont move your eyes the muscles get weaker. that was my problem. i used to read alot and watch tv all the time. reading from very close and in dark, and alot more things. eye muscles also need stimulation (movements, staring at distant objects, oxygen.) to stay healthy.

its not worth it...i had it done several years ago...i dont wear contacts now,but i had to go through a tough period after the surgery because my eyes took longer than expected to heal and then a year later i had a bad eye infection,also it causes minor astimigatism.Technology is more advanced now than when i had it done, so probably you won't have the same problems,but still its not worth it,i was pushed into it by an idiot family friend when i was very young.

any surgery that is not done with own will is bound to fail, because humans are not machine but somatic creaures, i'm sorry to hear that desidudecool. I also have a slight astigmatsim on my left eye, but alhamdullilah, it's not so bad:)

^it has also left me with slight astigmatism in my left eye, it bothers me when am playing squash or table tennis because i've a bit of a problem spotting ball on my left.no night vision problem or any other problem though.

I am almost 26 , eye sight isn't that bad but it's surely getting worse.
I think parissenoor's experience has surely been good and it's encouraging but after reading all the posts it looks like it's better to have contact lense for couple of years, things will get much more clear by then (in terms of side effects and improved technology).
Btw thanx a lot everyone for feedback, i think i can see things much more CLEARLY now:D
