Laser Eye Surgery

A person very close to me, got her laser eye surgery done from Pakistan, about 10 years ago. The procedure was new in Pakistan at that time. She was nervous too, but wanted very badly to get rid of the glasses, so she did that. It was painful for a few days (they did each eye separately - 2 weeks difference). But her eyes have been fine ever since. No side effects or lapse, at all. She has not worn glasses or contacts for the last 10 years.

Laser surgery has a 95% chance or working sucessfully with no side-effects.

But that means it goes wrong in 5% of cases.

That means one out of 20 people get problems after having laser eye surgery.

Those odds are too worrisome for me... I was planning on getting it done, but 1 in 20 scares me too much. I'd rather stick with my glasses.

Thats an average figure. It's important to check with the clinic you plan to use what their complication rate is. If they refuse to tell you, then i'd steer well clear.

well a friend of mine had laser-treatment couple of years ago. everything was fine for the first 6-7 months then he started to have problems and he's been using medicine since then to cure his problems. his eye-sight is even worse now and he's afraid then he might go blind in a few years. keeping his situation in mind, i won't advice for laser treatment. but then maybe it won't happen to you :~)

Well I finally plucked up the courage and went for a consultation yesterday to have my eyes zapped. The actual surgery will be next friday so fingers crossed it all goes well.

good luck with the surgery!...I had mine done about a year ago now...whilst in pakistan at Lahore Medi Care and its exactly as Malk1 describes...it didnt hurt at all. I wore glasses since I was 3 and every 6 months my prescriptions were changing and getting worse...I love reading and that puts a lot of pressure on which made it worse plus the more study and stuff u gotta go that increases pressure. I couldnt even read without wearing glasses....my eyesight was so weak that the Dr even said we might not be able to correct it 100%. But it worked I went to Pakistan in July and had a check up a year later and he said that I'd got 100% correction in both eyes!

With all Surgery there's a risk but there's many benefits and in Pakistan they have been performing laser surgery for nearly 15 years.

Go for it!

Xxxxx

wow, thats great mixed pickle....my eyesight isn't too bad so i dont wanna go in for surgery when i can do very well without it

i know couple of people who have done it.... and so far its perfect for them....

just fyi ... you cant do it until your eye sight stops at a certain number ....

i am also considering it perhaps in another 2 yrs :)

i love wearing glasses too..

Got my consultation next week but you guys are making me reconsider!

Lezzy, did u go for it in the end? how was it?

Well let's just say, it's a good job that braille keyboards are cheap.

Just kidding hon, it was great. Really recommend it. Had the zapping in the morning and was watching an albeit blurry tv by the following evening. Be prepared for the smell of burning meat though.

My dad had it done back in 1996ish when the technology wasn't so advanced yet, and his eyesight is great, Alhamdulillah. I'm planning on doing it this summer.

Glad 2 see that many of u folks have passed. Just stay away from strong flashes.
