Lasagne

I need a good recipe for lasagne … one that uses ricotta cheese, spinach and keema and anything else that tastes yummy … a recipe for lasagne sauce would also help.

I can’t find anything on Martha Stewart or Jamie Olivers’ websites that is easy enough for me to make. :frowning:

Re: Lasagne

lol@easy

MehnazQ - a good lasagna is a whole day project, sorry, can't think of a reciepe that doesn't take a good block of hours

Re: Lasagne

that's fine minah ... i made a new year's turkey back in december with all the trimmings and it turned out amazing ... I know I can do it as long as it doesn't ask for ridiculous ingredients ... Martha Stewart is asking too much of me ... I can't use any of her recipes. :(

Try adding a layer of sliced boiled eggs into your lasagnes.....it sounds weird but it really works.

Re: Lasagne

need a tried (aazmooda) recipe, please

Re: Lasagne

dude lasgne is the easiest thing to make as are ALL italian foods....all u have to pay attention to is to add the right seasonings (basil, thyme, parsley etc etc) and use both mozerella and ricotta cheese and ofcourse the keema should be fantastic ( i make chicken keema and spice it the desi way) and usually add a bit of ragu tomato sauce in it to make it wetter.
so just boil the pasta with the salt, drain it, wash with cool water, dry it and then layer it with keema, sauce, ricotta, mozerella, salt, basil, parsley and top with a layer of pasta....make 3-4 layers and top with more cheese, sauce and seasoning and bake till the cheese melts...

Re: Lasagne

i know of a desi lasagne recipe... will post over the weekend inshaAllah...

Re: Lasagne

I am not sure how good of an idea it is to mix spinach with qeema. Usually when you make qeema lasagne, it is mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce.
With spinach, it goes ricotta and feta cheese but there are no fix rules to it
I will post a receipe i made with escarole instead of spinach. It turned out good but wish i had not put so much cheese in there :smack2:

Re: Lasagne

I make a great ricotta cheese with spinach and qeema lasagne now. It’s yummy. :yummy:

First you make your qeema, according to how you would like it. I mix in some red onions and more mircheh for extra taste. Once the qeema is ready, add in a jar of some regular Ragu spaghetti sauce. I normally make 1 - 1.5 pounds of qeema, so a single jar of sauce will suffice. It’s a plain tomato sauce so you can add in more spices if you want.

Prepare your spinach by cooking it in a pot with some salt/pepper until it shrivels up. Mix in a tub of ricotta cheese once the spinach is well cooked.

I normally make a sauce on the side which goes at the bottom of the dish, so that the lasagne is able to cook in its juices … some milk, flour and parmesan cheese … keep stirring it until it’s well cooked.

Pour about a quarter of this sauce into the dish and then start putting your lasagne sheets. Put a layer of qeema on top and then a layer of the ricotta cheese with spinach mix on top of the qeema. Sprinkle some extra parmesan if you want and then apply another layer of lasagne. Keep doing this four/five times or until the lasagne finishes.

To top it off, I pour the rest of the the milk mixture around the edges of the lasagne and on top of the lasagne too. Cover it with tin foil and stick it in the oven.

The lasagne will cook in the milk mixture as well as the qeema mixture … it will turn out quite heavy and very filling but tasty. The lasagne sheets should be very tender and soft by the time it is ready. It shouldn’t be hard or crunchy.

I give credit to Martha Stewart and Delia Smith for this recipe; this is a combination of their various lasagne recipes from their websites. :salute:

One other thing, I always buy oven ready/baking lasagne so that you don’t need to cook the lasagne sheets seperately first.

Re: Lasagne

I had no recipe until some time ago....requested 2 nice ppl....both gave me some guideline...then i tried google....n finally decided do's n donts .....

basically u need 4 things
lasagne noodles
main stuffing ( mince/spinach/ chicken / veggies)
cheese sauce
cheese

I can't say the outcome was best lasagne ever.....but for me its enough that my family really loved it!

Re: Lasagne

I also need a lasagne recipe....if its spicy..even better!!! not too fond of bland food....
