Las Vegas

Other than gamble, drink and watch over-priced shows…what else is there to do?

Vegas is a lot of fun, and you don't have to do any haram to enjoy it. :) The shopping is fantastic, and there are some great restaurants as well. You're within easy reach of hiking, you can take a helicopter trip into or over the Grand Canyon, and you're a few hours drive from some beautiful national parks. If you walk down the Strip, every hotel is a spectacle and you can fill a couple of days just walking through the major hotel casinos and enjoying their themes. The Venetian has an indoor canal system, miniature St Marks Square, etc. The Ballagio has a beautiful fountain in front with water and lights shows set to music. There's a free pirate fight show at one of the hotels, the 'volcano' at the Mirage erupts every few hours, there is a lion habitat at the MGM where you can see gorgeous lions and cubs, the Tropicana has a really pretty tropical bird and plant habitat you can walk through, Paris has a mini Eiffel tower you can go up, and New York New York has an awesome roller coaster that whips around the outside of the hotel, which is built to look like the skyline of New York. There are places on the strip where you can do virtual wind-tunnel sky diving, lots of imax movies, etc., etc. It's like a Disney World for adults. And yes, it is over the top and cheesy. But it's very fun. I think three days is the most time you'd want to spend there, though---the energy is so high and everything so over-the-top that you just burn out after a certain point.

I should have added that Lake Mead is nearby so if you're into water and water sports it's a lot of fun in the hot months as well and a nice way to get away from the city when you've had your fill of the Strip.

Re: Las Vegas

Everything that NYCGori said and ...

Watch "O" from Cirque du soleil. I am not into circus myself but the underwater stage and the entire show is out of this world.

Re: Las Vegas

and what do you do if you have already been there and done all this but have to go again for a company sponsored thingy…

:hinna:

Reboot , and start from the beginning.

Re: Las Vegas

If it's been over a year since you visited Vegas the last time, then you can certainly spend 3 days enjoying same or new things again. At Vegas, nobody should get bored at least that is how I find it. Can always enjoy my trip to Vegas...

Re: Las Vegas

personally the only thing that appeals to me in vegas are the buffets.. really good at very very reasonable prices.

Re: Las Vegas

Munza - I have been there 6 times in the last 5 years for conferences and business so i know how you feel.

I try to go to a new resturant and catch a new show or concert (since they are always rotating).

Otherwise - sit relax by the poolside :)

Re: Las Vegas

Will have to agree with jadugar here

You can't have possibly seen/done everything there is in Vegas unless you have been visiting 2-3 times a year. There is always something new or different every time I visit.

if you haven't seen yet, check Hoover dam just outside the city

Queer: I liked the buffet at Alladin , but now it's become Planet Hollywood

Re: Las Vegas

i hav never been there ... but i think one needs alot alot of money to be in vegas !!!!

Re: Las Vegas

I'm sure things are always changing....and I am open to something new......but I think I'm just tired of all the hoopla over nothing.....

We have been to Lake Mead, Hoover Dam (that is definitely a site to see) and perhaps I wouldn't mind doing it again.

I will just have to get creative.

Maybe a nice photo session out in the desert.....
