Las Vegas

We’re planning on going to Las Vegas for 5 days towards the end of december to celebrate our anniversary. If you’ve been there, please tell us your experience including where you stayed, where you purchased the travel package, and all the moderate-halal activities you can do there. I’d like to know what are some best hotels over there to stay at and how many days would you recommend for the stay? Also, what are the shows that are worth watching.

Thanks.

Re: Las Vegas

yea the city is all about porn and gambling, were ever you go you will find a big cineplex offering the latest porn adventure.

thats about it.

Re: Las Vegas

yea i agree^…they dont call it “sin city” for nothing.
If that’s your thing than you will enjoy. As far as “halal activities” no offense but there is nothing halal about Las Vegas.

Re: Las Vegas

Ah, the close minded opinions keep looking at the world from one angle…

There is lots to do in Vegas which has nothing to do with anything unethical, speaking from experience.

We stayed at the Luxor and the Stratosphere and lucked out both times on the room rates since December is the time where the least amount of tourists arrive.

Some of the Cirque De Soleil shows are worth watching but you have to sign up early as they are usually sold out.

Stay well clear of the Penn and Teller show. Absolutely not worth it in my opinion. There are plenty of stand up comedy shows which may interest you.

Now if you are a shopping aficionado, check out the Venetian, Caesars’ Palace and of course, the Bellagio.

There is also a new Fashion Island coming up, right off of the strip, which was under construction when we were there.

Just being there and walking on the strip is entertaining enough.

Of course, the Bellagio water show runs every 30 minutes and is a must see, especially after dark.

Bring a warm jacket since being in the desert, it is chilly.

For halal foods check this site out:

I eat mostly seafood so the choices are widespread.
Keep in mind, most upscale restaurant’s have highly capable and world class chefs, so your food selection may be well worth it as well.

If you have the time, check out Hoover dam, which is about an hour away from the heart of Vegas.

No need to purchase any packages as the city in itself is not too spread out and most of the activities center around the Strip, which you can discover on your own.

Good luck!

Re: Las Vegas

Hey thanks for all the info. I'll be sure to check the places that you mentioned.

Re: Las Vegas

I went to Vegas a few years ago with my parents and absolutely loved it.

We stayed at the Excalibur hotel which is designed like a gigantic castle, across the street from the airport, next to the Egyptian hotel and Mandarin Bay, opposite the MGM hotel (which has live lions in it … lots of fun).

You don’t need to gamble or take part in the “sinful” activities if you go to Vegas … nobody is shoving that stuff down your throat so I would ignore quite a few of the responses you got above. I didn’t see any porno theatres cause we stayed on the strip. If that is the type of activities you are looking for, I’m sure you will find it, but it isn’t everything that Vegas has to offer. What you choose to do in Vegas is totally up to you.

All we did was spend 2 days in Vegas … and went into every single hotel on the strip. Each hotel/casino is designed differently and it IS a lot of fun to walk through every single one and see them, especially the Belagio and the dancing fountains outside of this hotel and the life like Venice river inside the Venitian hotel. Shopping is amazing here … in fact, I would definitely go again and would love to stay at Bellagio. There was a wedding going on inside the flower/garden area when we went and it looked so beautiful.

Seeing all the amazing and totally different architecture is well worth the trip to Vegas. The pyramids of the Egyptian hotel to the Eiffel Tower of the Parisian hotel … :mudhosh:

Re: Las Vegas

Thanks Mehnaz. We plan on doing the same things you mentioned like seeing all the beautiful architecures, going through every hotel, and also do some shopping. I'm leaning towards staying at Bellagio.
