Ok, so I had this and lost my voice a week back..its nearing the end of the second week and still no voice…i can just about whisper…Im on antibiotics but its had no effect…I have no pain…just no voice…it started with a sore throat which became a violent cough…after that I lost my voice
Ive been taking honey with black pepper, taken steam, gargled with salt water and asprin in hot water…
I had this about two years ago. Antibiotics wont work for it because it is a viral infection. I remember I was in university at the time and used to talk to my class fellows using written notes because my voice wouldnt come out.
The worst thing was that although my voice came back in a week, I had a severe dry cough which lasted for an entire month.
It will go away on its own so dont worry about it too much. Dont force yourself to talk as that would stress out the larynx.
oh boy i had this once. the doc looked at my throat and said uve been yellin alot lately and i said no... cus i m sure what he calls yellin, i call talkin :D hehehe anyway he asked me not to talk... keep my mouth shut... which i tried, talked much less. he gave me an injection i remember and some antibotics... wonder why he gave me injection? :S
I'm not a morning person, so I'm quiet in the morning. I woke up one morning, got ready for work, had breakfast, and never said a word to anyone. Got in my car and drove all the way to school (I teach). Got in my classroom and put my stuff down and didn't say a word. A student comes up to me to say hello...I open my mouth to respond....and NOTHING! I have NO VOICE!!!!!!! That was the first time I had laryngitis. It's a weird feeling not having a voice. And it was funny. If had only tried to talk in morning (before leaving for work), I'd know about the laryngitis and wouldn't have to drive all the way to school. I could have called school from home and request arrangement for a sub. Lesson to self....exercise voice in morning.
