Desi culture is obsessed with baby boy. Concerned relatives show their wishes of it and outcome is blamed when mother deliver baby girl… and in severe cases divorce is granted or new bride is welcomed…

I think this taboo has come to an end in certain circles and things are moving towards positive directions (though at slow pace)

But why ladki is considered 'bojh' is not due to attitude of parents, its due to attitude of society (read as ladke wale) and their demands from parents when its time for them to get their daughter married.

NO..... Old age homes are getting popularity in east as well. Gone are the days, when sons used to take responsibility of aged parents. Now the line 'ek Maa/Baap 10 bachon ko paal pos sakta hai lekin 10 bache Maa/ Baap ko nahin sanbhal sakte' is the latest truth

What a great subject for discussion.

I still know of families that continue to have kids, despite failing health and insufficient finances, just to have an "heir" to their name and legacy even though many daughters are just as capable for providing for their parents in the golden years.

and that might be coming from Dadi / phuppi most of the time. Ironically, they don't learn from the experienced they faced in their lives due to such discrimination and become active part of such system

Father is to be blamed for the birth of a baby girl and not the mother.All these puphis dadis need to study science :emmy:

People prefer a baby boy due to few reasons such as :-
*lineage
*Financial Security
*Protecting izzat(if he has pre marital relationship ,they can still get him a decent girl but if a daughter has pre marital relationship, they are doomed)
*Daughter is considered 'kisi aur k amanat'

Is sab ki bari waja hai "Deen se doori"

Hum log kehte to hain k "Jo Khuda ko manzoor hai wohi hoga"
magar is baat pe Hum logon ka yaqeen pukhta(strong) nahi

baaqi jahan tak science ka talluq hai woh bhi sahi hai
magar itna nahi k Usi ko haqeeqat samjh liya jaaye

and there are fazail in raising daughters (according to hadith).

Those with this attitude are away from deen/scinece and common sense. in may say aik cheez bhi ho tau wo aisa na karain
