Large Packs v/s Small packs

So , I like to be economical with Grocery …

So I try to buy larger packets rather than small ones , coz they are cheaper in the long run … For example spices like red mirch or haldi … Ata , baisan , everything really , even daals .. I just get the huge packs and keep using them for as long as they run !

But I know desi families who are happy to spend more and get smaller packs coz they feel that way things remain fresh .. you finish them after a while and go get new packs …

What do you think is a better thing to do?

Re: Large Packs v/s Small packs

Depend on what I am buying. I don't like to buy large packs of things that will go bad in a day or few weeks. I don't buy veggies in large packs. They go bad fast. As far as maslay and daal is, I do buy larger packs. I seal them good after opening them. Besan, atta, maida goes in fridge after opening.

Re: Large Packs v/s Small packs

I wish I could buy economical sizes but since I don't have a car, I have to make do wiht smaller packs.

Re: Large Packs v/s Small packs

Sara why do you keep them in the fridge ? do you guys have hot weather?

Re: Large Packs v/s Small packs

Used to buy bigger, but now have settled for smaller packs, only because they take up so much room, i dont see the point of buying large stuff and letting it sit for ages. I used to have a heart attack when (once in a long while) i used to go through the dates of products and then end up throwing it away.

Re: Large Packs v/s Small packs

my mum told, ke masale & daal to kharaab nahin hti. so i buy big packs... veggies, bus jithne handi keliye chaahiye hon...

Re: Large Packs v/s Small packs

I tend to buy a small packet vs large so as not to have to throw it out due to expiry...

I find for a dinner or family gathering its just as easier to buy all the ingredients fresh a day before the meal....once I have planned the menu..
